Despite the changable weather conditions, I ventured out to the allotment today. And of course got drenched but still managed to still get a lot done in the sunny intervals.

The tulips are blooming and the cherry, pear and saskatoon flower buds are also beginning to emerge.

Plus, I finally got my parsnip seeds in the ground. Better late than never!

Looking forward to the next few months, when everything really gets going 🌱

Let's shout it from the tree tops, hurrah! Spring has officially arrived!

Today is the Spring Equinox and from today the days will be longer than the nights. Meaning more light and warmth is on the way.

Since the shift of the Sun's energy at the Winter Solstice, nature has preparing for a new year, slowly and unseen. And as we get ever closer to the Spring Equinox, it's efforts are becoming more visible. Buds and flowers are emerging, in readiness for pollinator activity.

A sign that Spring is almost here. A sea of golden Daffodils (Narcissus).

The Narcissus absolute essential oil is rare and very expensive, so it's not one that I typically use in my Aromatherapy practice. It is also very intense and should be used sparingly, with care. It has a deeply relaxing, sedative effect, which can be narcotic when used in excess. The name Narcissus comes from the Greek word 'Narkis', which means 'numbness'.

Today is the shortest day of the year and the longest night, marking the end of one solar year and the beginning of the next. After which the Sun will return and the days will steadily grow longer.

Lavender is probably one of the most well researched essential oils and the results overall are extremely encouraging.

One of the areas it performs well time after time is in regards to sleep and relaxation.

Various sleep studies have found the inhalation of Lavender essential oil to be an effective, reliable and accessible method for relieving insomnia, improving sleep quality and daytime fatigue.

The season of Autumn is represented by the Earth element.

Autumn is the perfect time to turn the attention inwards, like a tree, sending the focus down to the roots, centring and grounding.
