♑️ The next Full Moon appears on Thursday 10th July at 21:36 in the UK.

♑️ In July, the Full Moon is the Buck Moon, named after the new antlers that emerge from a buck’s forehead around this time of the year.

♑️ Some refer to this moon as the Thunder moon, due to the summer storms in this month.

♑️ Other names include the Hay Moon, after the July hay harvest or the Wyrt Moon which is an old Gaelic word for herbs, and the July full moon is a traditional time for gathering and using herbs.

♑️ Discipline and responsibility are the energies we embrace during this Capricorn Full Moon. While Capricorn stands for reason and order, the Moon symbolises our feelings.

♑️ The Capricorn Sea Goat invites us to lead with our logical thinking and concentrate on the black and white, while the sensitive Moon permits us to view things in all colours.

♑️ As you can see, there is a conflict here between our Moon and the sign that it sits in. It’s easy to get caught up in the conflict and to feel the tensions all around.

♑️ Just like the mountain goat, you too have the ability to scale the highest mountains and swim to the depths of the sea, you just need to trust that you can!!

♋️ Just four days after the Summer Solstice, we welcome our next New Moon. It arrives in the UK on Wedenesday 25th June at 11:31 am.

♋️ This New Moon is at ease in the sign of Cancer. This is where she belongs. The sign of our emotions, Cancer encourages us to fully experience every feeling and energetic sensitivities.

♋️ Now is a good time to sit with any emotions and realise that processing and making room for what is currently manifesting for you, is the only way to return to your true self.

♋️ Although it may be difficult to open up to the wide range of feelings that may surface, it helps us to become more receptive to our intuition when we allow ourselves to be open to our emotions.

Litha - Summer Solstice 2025 - Saturday 21st June

Litha is the midsummer festival which celebrates high summer, the longest day and shortest night of the year, and the fertility of the earth, with plants in full bloom and the bounty for the coming year moving towards the point of harvest.

Our ancestors would have spent the Spring planning, toiling, preparing, sowing seeds and crops, but at Litha, they could kick back and relax a bit, knowing Mother Nature is doing her thing!

The sun achieves its maximum strength, but at this significant point in the year, the energy shifts.

This July’s Hebden Bridge Open Studios event promises to be the biggest in our 23 year history!

With 122 individual artists and makers taking part in July’s Open Studios has more creative participants than ever before. 25 of this year’s artists will be HBOS first-timers, so this is a great opportunity to see new work even for those who’ve visited previous Open Studios. Put 4th - 6th July in your diary now!

Open Studios started in 2002 as part of the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, evolving in 2009 to be a separately organised and growing studio trail.

Artists and makers will be spread over 62 artists’ studios in and around Hebden Bridge and the neighbouring villages of Mytholmroyd, Heptonstall, Cragg Vale and Old, with three art and craft fair venues in Hebden Bridge hosting over 40 artists, whose studios are further afield, to make it handier to visit and buy from all the artists involved in Open Studios.

Our free (but donations of £1 are encouraged!) 64-page brochure acts as a ‘pocket guide’ with a map, information about every exhibitor and where to find them. Brochures and leaflets will be available to pick up from the start of June.

Our Open Studios Window Trail will be a fun way to explore the town centre and discover some of the artists taking part, starting a week before the event.

To really whet the appetite in the run-up to the event, we’ve also planned a special Open Studios Exhibition in the foyer and café at Hebden Bridge Town Hall, beginning on June 16th and ending on July 6th.

Our event offers a rare opportunity to meet the artists themselves and – in many cases – visit their working studios. Visitors can chat face-to-face with their favourite artists from almost every creative discipline, satisfying their curiosity on subjects like equipment, techniques and what really inspires the artists. It’s a far cry from the far less personal experience of seeing and buying art online.

The full list of participants encompasses everyone from printmakers, sculptors, ceramicists, photographers and mixed media artists through to local artisan makers of jewellery, textiles, glass, basketry, origami and even whittled wood.

♌️ It is known as the "Snow Moon" because it occurs during a time of year when heavy snowfall is common in the Northern Hemisphere, in Celtic and Old English, names for the February Full Moon are Storm Moon and Ice Moon.

♌️ This moon invites us to embrace the stillness and purity of winter.
