💙 Free Dementia Clinics coming to Halifax

Dementia UK will be holding free, confidential clinic appointments with a specialist dementia nurse (known as an Admiral Nurse) at the Nationwide branch in Halifax town centre. You don’t need to be a Nationwide UK customer – everyone is welcome.

📅 Clinic dates:
• 10 March
• 11 March
• 12 March

These appointments are a chance to speak with an expert, ask questions, and get advice or support around dementia in a safe and confidential setting.

To book, visit dementiauk.org/nationwide, scan the QR code on the poster, or speak to a member of staff in the branch.

If you can’t book online, text APPOINTMENT to 07478 724000 and someone will call you back to arrange a time.

Rigidity refers to stiff or inflexible muscles and can stop them from stretching and relaxing. This can lead to pain, muscle cramps and problems with balance.

If you experience rigidity, you may have problems with swinging your arms, turning around, getting out of chairs or turning over in bed, doing everyday tasks such as writing and speaking clearly.

Staying physically active can help to strengthen muscles and improve flexibility and mobility. Levodopa, or a combination of this and another Parkinson's medication, can be used to help treat rigidity. And therapies, such as physiotherapy or speech and language therapy can help.
