Sponsorship Announcement

We are delighted to announce that Hanson Plywood Ltd have agreed a new six year sponsorship deal with Halifax Rugby Club to start at the new season 2021/22.

Chairman Grayham Smith had this to say about the new sponsorship deal;

"It's a fantastic development for the club to have agreed this with Hanson Plywood Ltd.

They have always supported the rugby club, but to now have them on board as a main sponsor for the next six years will allow us to continue with our aims and objectives of revitalising the whole club.

We host two mens, two ladies and one mixed ability rugby team. It is also home to Halifax Rounders, Halifax Archers, Wednesday Mens Club and various other groups that have chosen to join as members or use our facilities. We hope, more than anything, that they can continue to enjoy the warm welcome we extend to everyone.”

Treasurer Neil Myres commented;

“The last few years have been tough, there is no denying that, but we have been making great progress. This partnership will help continue with that trend. I feel sure I speak for everyone at the club with offering my thanks to Hanson Plywood for this support.

The partnership has been developed with Hanson Plywood Ltd as part of their commitment and wish to be involved with the local community that surround both the rugby club and their head office. This sponsorship investment will allow the club to improve and develop its facilities to the benefit of all.”

Meet the team.

The Magpies isn’t just players and a coaching team, it’s volunteers that do a lot in the background that you don’t get to see so today Id like you all to meet Sarah Duffin.

Sarah does a lot behind the scenes such as Team photographer, Helping on match days.

How many years you’ve been involved

I have been involved with the team for the last 3 years

Why you joined the team

I joined the team after my son Aaron Innes started to train with the Magpies, I then got asked by Craig Serbert-Smith if I would help out with all of the administration work, I also do some photos and videos when the lads are training and when they play in matches, I also help on match days with the water run when needed

Favourite moment in rugby

I dont really have a favourite moment, but I think one of my favourites is watching the lads put 100% in when training ready for an upcoming game and watching their determination to win and seeing their excitement when they win

who inspires you in the game

All Of the Magpies, as no matter what disability they have they never let it get to them once they are on the pitch and playing a match they all support each other and are all a fantastic group of lads with a passion for rugby

hobbies
I dont have many hobbies but I enjoy spending time with my family and helping out at a local childrens gymnastics class

It’s when the team get told we are playing a certain team the buzz. energy levels go up a couple of levels. And the smiles wow every thing ramps up in training and then when game day comes its amazing.

Who inspires you in the game.

The ENTIRE team does, No matter what the disability is they do not let it get in the way.
The effort they put into training and into games is amazing i’ve been In the magpies set up now for 4 years and to see them grow individually is something to behold.

Match report.

Brilliant day for the Magpies coming away with a 33-17 win vs Bees.

In blistering heat the Magpies made the short trip to baildon to play our long time friends and rival Bees.

After a slow start the magpies started to get in the swing of things with try’s from a number of players, The magpies Forward play was outstanding playing phase after phase to inch forward and open it up for the backs to do what they do best and score.
In the end the team scored 5 try’s and 4 conversations.

The bees gave us a very good game with opening the scoring first and then getting a second try in quick succession. They game was played in great spirt and sportsmanship
