In the UK, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 10 minutes

If nothing changes, this will be every 8 minutes by 2040 according

Protecting women's health is vital; they are you mums, your sisters, your aunties, your cousins...

Some breast cancers have a 99% survival rate if caught early, so screening is important

If you know anyone who gets an invite for screening, encourage them to attend!

September is a busy month for us!🙌

Here's a short breakdown of our upcoming community engagement 👀

For many, living with or caring for someone with dementia can be a challenge.
Often, we may not even truly understand what is happening or feel like we can reach out for help.

The Alzheimer’s Society are hosting an event in our Apna Hub, here in the heart of Park Ward. Here you will receive key information, be able to ask important questions and have conversations in a safe, supportive and confidential environment.

Let’s speak openly about our health and get the support that we need. This will allow us and our families the best opportunity to spend quality time with each other when we need it most.

We would like to invite you to join us on Monday 8th September 1-2:30pm in the Apna Staying Well Hub, HX1 5PG.

🎉🎊 Thank you who came and celebrated🎊🎉

The Mayor of Calderdale spoke a few words of how cancer has impacted his life, highlighting the need for our team.

Our stakeholders expressed their feelings of proudness many thanks to Macmillan Cancer Support , Cancer Alliance and the Inclusion & Intergration Team at Halifax Opportunities Trust for their unwavering support

we even had an impromptu community member speak up about how our impact has uplifted the community 🫶

This shows that working with communities in ways that they want WORKS!

Let's keep the momentum going 💪 who's gonna become our next Cancer Champion? 👀

As women, we should talk openly about our health ❤️‍🩹

Got some symptoms and don't know what they mean?
Looking for some like minded people to share with?
Or curious about how your body is going to change?

No matter what your reason it, it's important you make time for you and your female family members to attend this event!

Hosted by Dr Anwar, you will be able to ask questions about menopause and other women's related issues!

We will also have professionals present from Overgate, Talking Therapies, Sprinhall Group Practice, Calderdale Learning Disability Community and of course, your wonderful CCA team, to have informal chats with!

Get yourself and let's support each other 🫶

It was great to meet with Lisa from Cancer Alliance and Jonaid as a post diagnosis from our in-house Staying Well Calderdale to see how we work together and develop further

We can't WAIT to celebrate with you next week!🥳
Can you believe it? 1 year already!

We have learnt so much through listening to the community's needs about health and cancer

We want to share our research and let you know what direction we are going in next

See you on Tuesday 1-3pm in the Apna Hub HX1 5PG

We will have free activities for children and adults, have henna artists and good vibes!

All guests will get a meal and there will be light refreshments

We would like to congratulate Steve Riley at Five Talents Creative and Eilidh Gunson at the PGPA for becoming our next CCA Cancer Champions!

They and their work places have invested in health and now have the foundational knowledge they need to support someone in the event of a cancer diagnosis. They also play a key role in normalising the topic of cancer in a way that is right for THEM!

What a lovely day to come together for a picnic and support each other, bringing food and building relationships🧺🥙🍍🫒🧋

We came together, talked about our issues, supported each other, kids played, we picked fresh organic fruit, brought homemade food and created a positive atmosphere 😁 that's the meaning of our project!
