πŸŽ€ New year, new Paediatric area in Calderdale Royal’s Emergency Department as it gets a facelift! πŸŽ€

The Paediatric area in the CRH ED has recently had some improvement work to improve the experience for our patients, families and colleagues.

Work has included relocating the main entrance doors and introducing swipe-card access at other entry and exit points.

Matron, Leanne Baziw, said: "These changes also allow staff to have clear oversight of the waiting area, which was not previously possible. Together, these improvements help us provide a safer, more secure, and more appropriate environment for children and their families."

Thank you to One Stop for their kind donation of selection boxes to our Children's A&E department this morning 🌟

At the beginning of the month we had a lovely donation of advent calendars from Finley and his parents.

Finley has a rare auto immune disorder called Eosinophillic Esophagitis (EoE). As a baby he was very sick and spent a lot of time in hospital, some of it being over Christmas. Finley's mum and dad started collecting and donating Advent Calendars as a yearly tradition for the children who have to spend time in hospital over Christmas like Finley.

Here are some of the children who enjoyed the advent calanders in A&E. Thank you 🌟

On Sunday we had a lovely gift donation from Isaac. Isaac likes to come every year using the money he has fundraised to buy toys and gifts for children and young people who end up in hospital over Christmas πŸŽ„ Each year he sets himself a goal on how much he would like to raise - last year he managed to raise a fantastic Β£700, so this year he decided to aim to raise Β£750. He only went and smashed that goal by raising an AMAZING Β£900! πŸ‘πŸ½πŸŒŸπŸŽ‰ Well done Isaac from us all on the Children's Ward and thank you for your yearly visit. We love to see you and catch up on how you are doing.

On Friday we had a lovely visit from Alice, her sister and some of her friends. They have been fundraising for some toys and resources to be used by children and young people with additional needs who end up having a stay on our ward. We always struggle sourcing and providing these types of resources so these are very much appreciated. Thank you Alice and mum Gail for providing us with these 🌟 They even came with an extra elf helper, who they hid somewhere on the ward for another child to find!

Yesterday we had a very special visitor come to the Children's Ward πŸŽ… Children, parents and staff were all very excited to see Santa Blake once again this year. There were plenty of smiles and Christmas cheer all around πŸŽ„πŸŽ
