I feel it’s now time to let everyone know what happened to me back in 2024 when I sunddenly closed.
As everyone knows I set up CJH podiatry back in 2019. CJH is not only my sons initials it’s my sons , dads and my first initials. It wasn’t just work for me it was a lifeline out of a hard situation and it had to work to provide for my son.
I had developed an amazing buisness but it was chaotic. I would drop my son off , come to work, pick him up , do all the mam jobs then it was paperwork/admin on the evening and this was 6 days a week . You would often find me fast asleep at 8pm.
Then in May 2023 when I was on holiday in salou the valuations office who do the buisness rates came and revalued my property . I was totally unaware of this until November 2023. I also rent the space that used to be the front bar and was planning on converting it to a big clinic and training local people to be foot health professionals and providing space for other professionals I.e. physios.
So yeah fast forward to November 2023 when I found out what had happened. I received 5 buisness rates bills through the door backdated to 2019 totalling 50 000 pounds!!!! They had to be payed within 2 weeks!!! My rateable value had gone from 4500 to 24500.
When calling the council all I got was you have to pay you have to pay repeatedly!!! I wish I had 50 grand spare.
In the April/May time when my steriliser blew up and I closed I was waiting for the bailiffs to turn up at my house!!
So after getting the local MP involved I got the bills wiped with a hardship fund and the valuations office agreed to come and re inspect the property which finally happened 2 weeks ago.
I still get loads of wrong bills through each month , the valuations still not correct but I have hope it’s all going to be sorted after a lovely lady came out to re inspect. She actually stated the system has now changed so they can’t do this to anyone else.
So now that’s all out in the open it’s time to get back on track and open my diary back up…..not 6 days a week tho 🙈
