Unsure why but the most common question I get asked from my clients is "what made me want to do this job?"
The truth is there are a few reasons, but mainly one. π§βπ¦½π©Ό
The main reason is I myself have genuinely never known life without pain or injury.
When I was 6 years old I was diagnosed with Legg-Calve Perthes disease. A condition which would affect both hips. I spent the majority of my childhood in crutches and a wheelchair, and in pain.
From this a passion to better myself and my body was born. To give myself the best chance I got as strong and fit as I could πͺ
As a result of hard work and resilience I was able to lead a "normal" life. I played football, I ran, I boxed, I cycled and I swam, among other things π
Yes I would have flare ups and pain was always inevitable, but rehabilitation gave me my life back. Again, and again.
And now I am privileged to be able to do the same for others. π
Does this make me a better therapist? π€
Absolutely not, if anything I can be cut throat π€£ pain is a part of life, suck it up and get on with it. However, I would say my own injuries have given me a passion that will NEVER burn out β₯οΈ
