This is our Christmas tree of giving, if you would like to, it is a way to leave presents for our residents, some of whom dont have an extended family to join them this festive season. It is to show them that everyone is part of the Lornebank family even if they lack an immediate family. All of our residents are present on the tree but those with a red string would benefit from some extended love this Christmas.

Our new residents Lucy who loves a good read picked a couple of books up from our small library. On her way back to her room Grace beckoned us in to introduce herself. Nice to break the ice over a love of reading.

Honouring fallen heroes of a lost generation was foremost in our minds this week. Lornebank came together to celebrate the deeds of a generation of men and women who fought the forces of tyranny across Europe and beyond over two world wars. Our residents enjoyed reminiscing to the songs of the era performed by the lovely Laura and of course honouring those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Cathy likes to get out and about so when we have a shoping trip to make she will often accompany us. Feeling useful and getting some excersize with a brisk walk to the shops are an important part to anyones day and Cathy is no different. You can see it make a tremendous difference to her.

Grace, John and Jean enjoyed our visit to Neilsland primary school on Friday, the children were keen to show us the Anderson shelters they had built for their rememberance ceremony. They told us stories and recited poems for us. Our Lornebank residents were able to retell stories of their parents experiences of war. We all enjoyed our visit and look forward to seeing the children at Christmas.

Good care is about reacting to what might be causing our residents distress. Cathy wasn't having a good day yesterday so Karen gave her a jig-saw to complete and they had a good blather while doing it together. We are a supportive community of care, we all have a role to play in the welfare of our residents and when its called for, we are there to do our best in helping to keep everyone on a level because we all need that from time to time right?

We enjoyed some fireworks yesterday and we managed to get a great turn out. Some of us stayed inside to watch from the comfort of the home but some others braved the evening temperatures to get more interactive. Everyone had a great time.
