Yogahugz

Yogahugz Inclusive, nurturing yoga classes specifically designed for women through every life stage. Women’s | Pregnancy | Post natal | Mum & Baby

Hi, I’m Alison and a mum of three. I started teaching yoga in January 2014. I came to yoga after having suffered post natal depression after the birth of my second child (I’m now sure I had pnd the first time too). As I recovered I was looking for a way to help others, so they wouldn’t suffer in the same way I did. That’s why I’m so passionate about teaching, and about the local community I have created. Everyone deserves support, kindness, friendships, knowledge and a safe space at any point in their life. I offer pregnancy, baby massage, mum & baby yoga and luna magic yoga classes so everyone can attend, and very often they move through all my classes, sometimes more than once! I have undertaken full 200hr perinatal yoga teacher training. I currently teach the following classes in Lanarkshire:

Yogahugz Pregnancy yoga
Wednesday 7pm, Uddingston

Yogahugz Mum & Baby yoga
Tuesday 10.15am, Bothwell

Yogahugz Luna Magic yoga
Tuesday 8.30pm online
Wednesday 8.30pm, Uddingston

I would love to welcome you to join us, please get in touch for more information

💜 T H A N K Y O U 💜

I have enjoyed the most amazing job for the last eight and half years. Teaching yoga, holding space for you all in classes, watching friendships form and sharing lots of laughs and some tears. I’ve met the most amazing people, many of whom are now friends. My teaching has evolved, my knowledge has grown, along with my passion for taking time to connect with yourself 🙏🏼

Yoga came into my life when I needed it the most and I hope I have shared that with many of you when you needed it most too 🧘🏼‍♀️

Life is certainly a journey, and the time has come for me to connect with myself again. I am very grateful to be able to take this time to enjoy more family adventures, to nurture myself and come home to myself and my family again. It was a difficult decision to stop teaching when I’m so passionate about it and I love our community so much, but I know in my heart it’s the the right thing for me at this moment 💜

Thank you so much to everyone who has picked my classes and joined us over the years. Your support means so much. Thank you also to everyone recently for their lovely gifts, cards and kind messages 🥹

Please always try to take time for yourselves, it’s so important to fill your own cup. Listen to your heart and shine your light brightly ✨

As I have shared with many of you, we never know what the future will hold. I can say for certain that I will miss seeing you all 🥰 so who knows, perhaps I’ll return with Yogahugz workshops and retreats one day, and if I do I’d love to share space with you again 💜

Wishing you all the very best

Today we celebrate Summer Solstice, although the sun has again disappeared here in Scotland after a beautiful day yesterday ☀️

Today marks the longest day of the year, as we shift to welcome in summer. As the sun reaches great heights this can be not only a turning point in the wheel of the year but also in our lives 🌀

The sun brings with it an invigorating energy and we can tap into this energy by connecting with nature. Go to your favourite park or forest, take a trip to the beach, watch the sunset or sunrise 🌅 use it to welcome changes and new opportunities. Move into your light and shine your brightest ✨

This year I am certainly tapping into these energies as my life shifts and I embrace a new chapter with my whole heart 💜 filled with gratitude 🙏🏼

Happy Father’s Day,

To the Dads, the Grandads, the Step-Dads, the partners, the uncles, and anyone who steps up in familial support and takes on that vital role.

If you have dried tears, tied laces, soothed scares and chased away monsters - today is your day to reflect and take all of that in.

You are most definitely someone’s hero, though it may seem far from it at times.
You are a role model, a safe place and a port in the storm.

You are the shoulders that umbrella the team, you are the roof, the structure, the solid.

Thank you for all that you do, for all that you wish you could do and for all that you will endeavour to do more of, with every passing day.

We see you, and we know it’s hard.

Happy Father’s Day,

To you all.

A systematic review and meta-analysis has examined the characteristics and effectiveness of pregnancy yoga interventions.

“Twenty-nine studies with 2217 pregnant women were included for meta-analysis.

Pregnancy yoga interventions reduced anxiety, depression and perceived stress.

Yoga interventions also reduced duration of labour and, increased odds of normal vaginal birth and tolerance for pain.

The quality of evidence (GRADE criteria) was low to very low for all outcomes.

Twelve or more yoga sessions delivered weekly/bi-weekly had a statistically significant impact on mode of birth, while 12 or more yoga sessions of long duration (> 60 min) had a statistically significant impact on perceived stress.”

The researchers concluded that, “The evidence highlights positive effects of pregnancy yoga on anxiety, depression, perceived stress, mode of birth and duration of labour.”

New moon in Aries ♈️

Be courageous and embrace your inner warrior. Time to take charge and chase what you want. Set those intentions, make your wishes and create your new beginnings ✨

As Aries is the guest sign in the zodiac this can also be a great time to start working with the moons cycles if you haven’t managed to get into your cycle so far!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

To all the women.
Because all women have mothered someone at some point in their life, it’s just what we do.
We care, we nurture, we mother.

For the mothers who are knee deep in family life, this is your day to feel like a queen, please do. It’s entirely deserved and no one needs a day of pampering more. The chores can wait, be rested.

For the mothers who have lost children, this day is another on your ‘harder’ calendar and for that I send you love, you are so very brave.

To the women who no longer have their mother, this day is a heart-breaking reminder of an overwhelming grief. Your mother would want this day to be a time to say her sayings, cook her favourite meal and play her favourite songs. So, please don’t avoid that today. I know it hurts but it will help the heal.

To the women who have not made it into motherhood, who so desperately want to. This day is tough, there is nothing you want more than a 3am wake up and a hand drawn card full of love.
Please take today to acknowledge all the hard work and energy you have put into your endeavours. I see the hole in your heart. I see you and I want you to know you're a warrior of love and you deserve so much joy in life. Please let it in.

To the women who mother another child, you are a glorious example of humanity and love, my heart fills to bursting just to witness the gift you give. Thank you.

To the women who feel they have not had that maternal love they so crave, please forgive. You need your heart whole to make so much love that the future outweighs the past. It starts with you. You deserve it, make it so.

To the women,
ALL the women.
We mother like no other.
