Electrolytes — do you really need supplements?

Not always! You lose these essential minerals when you sweat, especially in a hot summer. But you can replenish them naturally through wholefoods.
Key electrolytes and where to find them-

Sodium – for fluid balance and nerve function – in sea salt, cheese, pickles
Potassium – support heart rhythm and nutrient transport – in bananas, avocados, mango, watermelon, mushrooms
Magnesium – for energy and muscle function – in spinach, almonds, quinoa, sardines
Calcium – for bones, muscles and blood pressure – in yogurt, leafy greens, tofu

Easy natural combinations
Water + lemon + pinch of salt = quick DIY electrolyte drink
Watermelon + salt + mint = hydrating and refreshing
Cucumber + sea salt + mint = perfect cooler
Celery + spinach + lemon smoothie = mineral-packed

Blended, creamy and naturally sweet!

Bananas contain dopamine, a ‘feel-good’ chemical that positively affects the nervous system. They are also rich in magnesium and potassium, key electrolytes that help with muscle function, hydration and stress balance.

Craving something sweet but want to keepnit nourishing? These Chickpea Brownies are the perfect guilt free treat for these chilly winter days! Packed with protein, fibre and rich chocolatey goodness, they’ll keep you warm and satisfied with the sugar crash!


400 g chickpeas, drained. 250 g pitted Medjool dates
120 g crunchy nut butter of your choice
90 g coconut oil, melted
60 g walnuts
50 g cocoa powder
30 g cocoa nibs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt

Beat chickpeas, dates, nut butter, coconut oil, vanilla extract and salt in a food processor until smooth.
Add the cocoa powder and cocoa nibs and fold in.
Finally add the chopped walnuts and stir into the mixture.
Transfer to a 22x22 tin and smooth the top with the back of a spoon.
Refrigerate for 1 hour and slice into bars or squares.
You can store in the fridge for 10 days or freeze and use as needed.

1 - Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Water is your best friend to keep cravings at bay and maintain a healthy metabolism.
2️ - Choose smart snacks. Reach for refreshing fruits, crunchy veggies, and protein-rich options to keep you satisfied and energized.
3️- Get moving outdoors. Embrace the sunshine and enjoy activities like swimming, hiking, or biking to stay active and burn those extra calories.
4️-Mindful indulgence. Treat yourself occasionally to your favourite summer treats, but savour them in moderation and be mindful of portion sizes.
