Fuel up with iron! This essential nutrient helps transport oxygen throughout your body and supports your baby's growth. Research shows that iron deficiency during pregnancy can increase the risk of preterm birth and low birth weight. Boost your iron levels by incorporating lean meats, poultry, fish, legumes, and iron-fortified cereals into your diet. Serve with a side of sweet potatoes for an iron-rich feast. Iron, we've got you covered! 💪

Additional research indicates that consuming an adequate amount of iron during pregnancy can help prevent iron-deficiency anaemia, support the development of your baby's brain and nervous system, and contribute to overall maternal well-being. Remember to consult with your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate iron intake for your specific needs. Keep your iron levels in check for a healthy pregnancy journey! 🌟 "

Laughter is great medicine. It shows strength. It breaks the weakness. It shows hope. It gives light. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh. They will be guiding lights through all the turmoil whether it’s work, family, the world or understanding yourself. Friendship full of laughter is peace, acceptance and a human bond. To my great and wonderful family, friends and fabulous work family. Thank you for making me smile through easy and difficult times. Thank you for standing with me. Thank you for the laughter.

Resilience! I’ve often been asked over the years why I am so tough and hard working. I think my recent posts will give you some insight into things. Out of tragedy and pain can come light. I wasn’t surprised at more BAME COVID deaths because of my experience of healthcare despite being a doctor. My beautiful father died an untimely death because I wasn’t listened to or considered by doctors. My beautiful father who worked for the NHS tirelessly was only see for the colour of his face and not what he said in his beautiful Ghanaian accent. My beautiful father a tall strong black man - who dreamed of coming to the UK to drink English Tea. My beautiful and clever father who knew his doctors had failed him. My beautiful strong father who was paralysed because they didn’t listen to me about his diagnosis and left him without a scan for 3 days. I cried - his words were in the famous words of Christ - Forgive them they don’t know what they are doing. You see the painted image of the black angry person is one painted to silence us. Black people are mostly peaceful and don’t complain so you won’t know want has happened unless you care to ask. We have all suffered mostly in silence. The current emotion is not of anger but of sadness. My beautiful Father taught me to get back up again and I did. My passion as a doctor is never to see anyone suffer the way my father did. It’s to always listen regardless of creed colour or race. My passion is to get back up again and seek to do the best for all. Combined together, listening and hoping we will all get up again. I believe in the good in human nature. I believe in the joy in human nature and we will get it back. I believe we will be finally able to say all lives matter because black lives truly matter.

It’s a wonderful World. Aptly said by a Louis Armstrong many years ago - I see the colours of the rainbows on peoples faces going by. Despite what is happening around the world with the virus and race - we are all one race - the human race - connected by the world. The rainbow has been a strong symbol. Remember it’s many colours and the biblical story that tells us it’s a sign of promise. A sign of recovery. It’s a sign of hope. It’s really a beautiful world and something we can be thankful for every day. Enjoy the words of the song and if you can, play the original. It was one of my Father’s favourite songs - a beautiful memory which reminds us that we are all connected and we are all important. It’s simply a wonderful world!!
