After working for many years as a biologist, Mike discovered that helping people to reclaim balance in their body and mind through massage therapy was much more fulfilling and enjoyable. It gave him a good basis of anatomy and physiology and knowledge of basic massage techniques. Afterwards he trained in a traditional massage from Hawaii – Lomi Lomi Nui (also known as Kahuna/Hawaiian massage) which forms the core of his massage style today. He found that the soothing and flowing qualities of Lomi Lomi make this type of massage particularly beneficial for people looking for deep relaxation. Lomi Lomi not only works on a physical level but through clearing emotional blocks in the body helps one to let go of old limiting beliefs and patterns. The Lomi Lomi qualities of attentiveness, focus, unconditional love and nurturing, make it unique among other massage modalities. In order to work more effectively on chronic tension in deep layers of muscles - especially the neck, shoulders and back area - Mike studied Deep Tissue techniques. He also has two years experience in Seated Acupressure Chair Massage. Blending different styles, Mike will always tailor his massage session to meet the individual's needs. During almost ten years of his massage practice, Mike has found massage therapy to be especially helpful in stress-related conditions like insomnia, anxiety and headaches. Both stress and long hours spent at the computer contribute to muscle tension and stiffness that can be effectively alleviated by massage; whereas people after long haul flights, long drives, and joggers, for example, benefit from stretching and massage focused on the calves and upper legs.
