My name is Chantelle Angel and I am a Montessori-trained Sleep Consultant. It was after having my first child that I realised the true challenges of being sleep deprived and the lack of support provided to get through it. In 2013 I qualified as an AMI Montessori Directress, and spent several years teaching in Montessori nurseries and schools. I later obtained OCN-certified qualifications in: "Sleep in Children and Sleep Training", "Reflux, CMA, and Early Food Allergies", and "Breastfeeding". I have also undergone First Aid Training for adults and children. My drive is to help my clients with their family wellness needs by providing the guidance and resources needed to understand the root cause of their issues and develop a plan that works for them. As a certified Sleep Consultant, I strive to create a life balance plan that prioritises everyone’s wellbeing and strengthens the bonds within the family. Drawing on my Montessori background, I emphasise a gentle and calm approach when forming a tailor-made programme for the child. There are many different sleep methods that I advise on, however no two children are exactly the same and each child will need a slightly different approach.

When to transfer a toddler into a bed? 🫠

The moment they climb out of their cot! For safety reasons, take the sides down and turn it into a cot-bed (or, if your cot doesn’t have this option, buy a toddler-friendly single bed asap).

Now they have found this new freedom - it can be common for them to keep getting out of bed. The answer is very simple - keep taking them back! Don’t speak to them whilst doing this, as this will only encourage or stimulate the situation. It can take a few days but persevere.

Struggling with short naps? 😴

Let’s tackle one of the most common questions I hear from parents: How can I get my baby to sleep longer than 30 minutes at nap time?

Short naps can be frustrating for both parents and babies, but there are strategies that can help extend nap times. The key? Teaching your baby to self-settle at the start of the nap, creating a dark sleep environment, make sure any constants they have such as white noise are on & a dummy to hand. Being proactive in gently resettling them just as they stir.
