Looking for a friendly place to meet new people, enjoy a hot two-course lunch, and take part in fun activities? 💛

Our Young at Heart Lunch Clubs run weekly across Broxbourne, Dacorum, East Herts, North Herts & Stevenage.

For just £12 a day (£18.50 with transport), you’ll get:

REMINDER TODAY -

The national system for sending emergency alerts to mobile phones in the UK will be tested again this September, the government has said.
It will see compatible phones vibrate and make a siren sound for 10 seconds while displaying a message at 15:00 BST on 7 September, even if they are set to silent.
The alerts are intended for situations in which there is an imminent danger to life, such as extreme weather events or during a terror attack.

Delivered daily by HILS (Health & Independent Living Support), this service provides:

🌟 National Food Bank Day – First Friday in September 🌟

Today is National Food Bank Day, a great reminder that none of us should ever have to go to bed hungry.

Hunger doesn’t always look the way we imagine. It can be as close as a neighbour, a friend, or even a colleague sitting in the next office. Behind closed doors, bare cupboards and empty fridges often look just like ours.

Food banks across the UK help millions of people every year – men, women, and children who, for reasons ranging from illness to job loss to unexpected life changes, are struggling to put food on the table. And as we all know, those circumstances can happen to any one of us.

👉 So, why not mark the day by donating a few tins, volunteering some time, or simply raising awareness? A small contribution can make a big difference.

📢 Have your say on Hertfordshire’s future!

Hertfordshire’s 11 councils have launched the next phase of engagement on the future of local government in our county. 🌍✨

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help shape how local services – like housing, schools, roads, libraries, bin collections, and more – are delivered in the years ahead.

💡 The Government plans to simplify councils in England, meaning Hertfordshire’s district/borough councils and county council could be replaced with new unitary councils that provide all services in one place.

👉 Over the next month, there will be events across the county (and online) where you can learn more and share your views.
👉 A dedicated website is live until 30 September 2025 so you can read about the proposals and complete the survey.

💙 Staying Active in Our Community 💙

We are incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful services on our doorstep that help individuals in our community to socialise, stay active, and feel connected.

One fantastic example is the Movement for Memory classes offered by Moving More. These sessions are specially designed for people living with memory loss or cognitive impairment, and are also ideal for those with Parkinson’s, Dementia, or MS.

The classes use dance-based routines and gentle exercises to support strength, balance, mobility, and coordination — all while creating a fun and welcoming environment. Beyond the physical benefits, they also give people the chance to meet others, build confidence, and enjoy meaningful social interaction. 🌟
