Happy Friday! We were so pleased to welcome children with their families and staff from Havens Hospices on board for a special trip today.

Thanks to our fully accessible boats, everyone can enjoy the sights, sounds, and gentle pace of the canal โ€“ with plenty of wildlife spotting and everyone gets a chance to steer the boat and work the locks.

Another day full of smiles, laughter, and precious memories together.

Thanks to Babaya Photography for the photo.

Last week we welcomed Scriven Disability Support Group from Cambridgeshire on board for a fabulous day out on the water!

They shared this wonderful feedback with us:

โ€œBeing able to bring a wheelchair on such a hands-on trip has been incredible. Weโ€™ve learnt so much from the crew and will have the confidence to join in more wheelchair-friendly activities.โ€

Itโ€™s feedback like this that reminds us why making the waterways accessible for everyone is so important.

Here's what they said,

"Thank you for such an amazing day. Our residents had a wonderful time. For some of the lovely residents this was their first day out in a long time and they said they had the best day."

CanalAbility provide specially adapted canal boats for disabled people & people with special needs to enjoy boating on the river

CanalAbility are an award winning charity dedicated to providing the facilities for disabled people and people with special needs to enjoy boating on the river on our specially adapted canal boats.

Have a day out or a weekend break and enjoy a great experience exploring the Rivers Stort and Lee, through the Essex and Hertfordshire countryside. Have a go at steering and changing the locks, or just relax, watch the wildlife and the world go by.

For longer holidays you can travel to London and the Grand Union Canal. Cruise through Regents Park and its zoo or perhaps take in a show โ€“ the accommodation is free and thereโ€™s no congestion charge. If you prefer a rural idyll visit the historic towns of Bishopโ€™s Stortford and Hertford and the beautiful rolling countryside in-between.

Our three purpose-built, fully centrally heated and accessible broad beam boats enable everyone to take a full and active part in the boating experience all year round.
