🌍 World Mental Health Day 2025 reminds us that mental health is a universal human right. This year’s theme, Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies, calls attention to those often overlooked during crises, such as individuals living with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
ADHD affects about 7.2% of children globally and 3.1% of adults worldwide, while ASD impacts roughly 1 in 127 people globally. These conditions often intersect, with up to 28–38% of autistic individuals also having ADHD. Despite these numbers, stigma and systemic barriers persist, especially in education, employment, and healthcare.
ADHD and autism are not deficiencies; they represent diverse ways of thinking. When workplaces embrace neuroinclusion, they unlock creativity, innovation, and resilience. Practical steps such as flexible schedules, sensory-friendly spaces, and clear communication can make a profound difference.
A gentle reminder: early assessment and timely intervention are not about labelling. They are about unlocking support systems that help individuals thrive. Awareness is the first step toward inclusion and empowerment.
