The 80/20 rule doesn’t mean being “bad” 20% of the time.

It means planning for flexibility. Owning your choices 🙌

You could apply it:
• Daily – a square of chocolate after dinner
• Weekly – a Saturday night takeaway
• Monthly – days off during a holiday
(not necessarily all three)

But here’s the deal, if you’re dealing with ongoing fatigue, blood sugar crashes, autoimmune flare-ups or poor gut health, that 20% might be doing more harm than good.

This isn’t about guilt, it’s about knowing your body and choosing wisely.

It’s not always about “too much acid” – sometimes, reflux is about things not moving properly.

Big meals, eating too close to bedtime, low stomach acid (yes, really!), and stress are all common culprits.

A current and much-needed debate is taking place about whether air fryers are as healthy as the hype suggests.

As a nutritional therapist, I often see clients over-relying on gadgets like air fryers, thinking they’re making a healthy choice simply because less oil is used. But air frying is still high-heat cooking, which can generate harmful compounds like acrylamide, AGEs, and HCAs, especially when fats, meats, or starches are involved.

It’s also worth noting that many air fryer models use non-stick coatings (e.g., Teflon/PTFE), which can release PFAS ("forever chemicals") when overheated, posing additional health concerns.

Bottom line: Air frying may be better than deep frying, but that’s a very low bar. It doesn’t turn ultra-processed food into nourishment. For true health gains, we need to move away from the crisp-at-all-costs mindset and embrace gentler, nutrient-preserving cooking methods like steaming, poaching, or slow cooking.

🧂It’s time to cook like health matters, not just convenience.

My Journey – As a busy TV Producer/Director I was on the classic “grab and go’’ diet, fueling my body with whatever I could find, eating out and ‘drinking’ far too much. Little did I know that these choices played havoc with my health. I was constantly exhausted and run down with colds, cold sores, bad skin, and weight gain. Having children was my wake up call. I became acutely aware of what we ate and made sure everything was clean, natural, organic and fresh. I began to plan and shop efficiently, taught myself to cook nutrient dense food, exercised regularly and lost weight. I glowed, had infinite energy and felt the best ‘ME’ ever. This new found health spurred me into studying at the prestigious Institute for Optimal Nutrition and I’m now passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience to empower you to feel the best ‘YOU’ ever.
