There are moments in my role as a celebrant that stay with me long after the day is done.

Over the past 18 months, I’ve had the profound privilege of supporting one family through three very different services. Each one unique, each one deeply personal, and each one a reminder of the trust placed in me at life’s most significant moments.

To be invited back by the family is something I never take lightly. It speaks of connection and of walking alongside people through both love and loss.

Holding space for a family over time like this is both humbling and an honour.

I had the pleasure of attending a Seniors Fair today connecting with many lovely local people and businesses.

It was such an uplifting morning having a range of conversations about my celebrant services and the importance of talking about funeral wishes. These aren’t always easy topics, but they are so important. It was good to hear how many people are ready to plan ahead and ensure their stories are told in a truly personal way.

I’m always here to listen, guide, and help create ceremonies that reflect a life lived with love, individuality, and meaning.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat and for sharing your stories. Thanks also to Harpenden Trust and the Eric Morecambe Centre for hosting the event.

Come along and say hello to me at the Seniors Fair at the Eric Morecambe Centre, Harpenden.

I’m a professional celebrant based in Harpenden and I’ll be there along with 40+ exhibitors.

I help people create meaningful, personal ceremonies that truly reflect who they are and what matters most to them.

Many people don’t realise that celebrants aren’t just for one type of occasion. I work with individuals and families to design beautiful, bespoke ceremonies for life’s important moments. And at this stage of life, many people are thinking about legacy; how they want to be remembered, what stories they want to pass on, and how they’d like their wishes respected. I help with that too.

We had an amazing weekend exploring Liverpool and celebrating a birthday. Sight seeing, great food.and the laughs. Grateful for moments like these, their support and friendship.

Big thanks to Em Burnip from Eco Wedding Festivals for leading a session on sustainability at the Celebration of Celebrants conference.

It was the session I enjoyed the most! No judgement just great conversation that really got me thinking about the impact my work can have beyond the ceremony itself.

As celebrants, we’re often helping people mark some of the most meaningful moments in their lives, weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, and those moments can also be opportunities to make thoughtful, sustainable choices.

The session helped me reflect on small but important steps I can take in my own business, such as:

• Reducing printed materials where possible and offering digital options
• Encouraging eco-friendly ceremony elements like biodegradable confetti or locally sourced flowers
• Working with suppliers who share sustainable values
• Being mindful about travel and combining journeys where I can

Em reassured me that none of us has to do everything perfectly, but every step towards a more sustainable approach matters.

My website will be launched at the end of the month and how timely that Justine from Simple SEO for Wedding, Funeral and Naming Celebrants was presenting yesterday at the Celebration of Celebrants.

Justine shared SEO insights and the power of strategy behind websites and that it’s not just about posting content, it’s about being intentional, understanding how people find you, and making sure my website and social platforms truly reflect the value I offer.

I have new ideas, a clearer direction, and a lot of motivation to improve my website and the way I show up online. Small changes can make a big impact, and I’m excited to start implementing what I’ve learned. Thanks Justine!

A day full of inspiration, learning, and connection at the Celebrant Circle, Celebration of Celebrants.

So grateful to spend time with such an uplifting community particularly my training buddies Abbie Rippon Professional Celebrant & Life Celebrations by Alison Bond sharing ideas, stories, and experiences that help us serve families and couples even better. From thought-provoking sessions to the simple joy of connecting with people who truly understand this work, it was a day that reminded me why I love being part of this profession.

I’m feeling inspired, reenergised, and thankful for this wonderful community.

Away from my celebrant work, I am a campaigner for ovarian cancer awareness. On Monday evening, we were honoured to represent the ovarian cancer community at a special reception at 10 Downing Street, held ahead of World Cancer Day on Wednesday 4 February (today).

Target Ovarian Cancer, CEO, Catherine Hart, invited myself and fellow campaigner, Reeta, to join her at the reception.

With the National Cancer Plan for England imminent, it’s vital that ovarian cancer remains firmly on the agenda. Transforming the future of cancer requires focus, leadership, and listening to those with lived experience.

A evening full of hope, a desire to ensure a brighter future and excellent canapés!
