The Power of Networking – and a Chance Meeting That Changed Everything
About 10 years ago, I met a man and his guide dog in a busy coffee shop in Birmingham. I offered them a seat at my table, we started chatting… and we’ve been connected ever since. At the time, I had no idea who I was talking to.
That man was Tim Reddish - CBE DL .
I had the pleasure of introducing Tim to Debbie Hardy from SNAPS Yorkshire as a possible Speaker, as SNAPS is 3R's chosen charity.
Fast forward to yesterday, I collected Tim and his current guide dog, Upton, and we headed to Irwin Mitchell’s for an unforgettable Corporate Catch Up.
Tim’s story is extraordinary. From losing his sight at 36 to becoming a Paralympic champion, leading British Paralympic sport, and achieving so much more, his journey is a masterclass in resilience, adaptability, and redefining what’s possible. We could all learn from his mindset and strength.
But for me, the biggest reminder was this:
You never know where a conversation, a connection, or a simple act of kindness might lead.
Networking isn’t just about business cards or LinkedIn requests — it’s about people, relationships, and the unexpected opportunities they create.
Here’s to meaningful connections, remarkable people, and the power of saying “yes” to a shared table.
