WHICH MONSTER WINS? The answer is usually, the one that you feed.
Do you feed your inner monster with joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, generosity, truth and compassion?
Or do you feed your inner monster with anger, envy, regret, greed, guilt, jealousy, sorrow, arrogance, self pity, resentment, inferiority and lies?
As soon as you notice your inner critical voice, label it. This gives distance from the voice. Labelling disidentifies the emotion and changes the relationship to the thoughts. If thoughts and feelings have labels, they are no longer some solid part of you but transient. It is as if you are saying "oh that's little Miss Worry" out there rather than "worry" in me.
