My name is Elise Key and Iโ€™m a private physiotherapist living in Harrogate area, who works to provide Physiotherapy, Pilates and Sports massage services in the Harrogate and Nidderdale regions. Itโ€™s inevitable that peoplesโ€™ routines, both personal and exercise, look at little different over the Christmas and New Year period ๐Ÿ˜…

I personally fully endorse taking the time to have a break from the routine and any intensity of training to give both your mind and body a rest period ๐Ÿฅฐ

The main downside is that with a break in exercise routine, people usually experience some increased stiffness in their bodies, not just from increase sitting periods but also joint aching from the colder weather ๐Ÿ˜…

Itโ€™s therefore really important as we launch the New Year to get lots of mobility work in to restore as much good function to your body as possible before you start loading too heavy again ๐Ÿ‘

This move has been a personal favourite that Iโ€™ve taught in the classes this week so integrate this into your mobility work to launch your New Year ๐Ÿ™Œ

This is our feature sequence for Pilates attendees this week! Itโ€™s a lot harder than it looks to keep that foam roller stable๐Ÿ˜…

1. Split lifts up/down
2. Add in a raise of the foam roller leg
3. Add in a raise of the floor leg - if you can! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great work for the posterior chain, with particular isolation of that hamstring! Also a good proprioceptive task to land your foot on that roller!

2. Standing leg on the bosu
3. Plyo hop between each rep

My primary goal when I started properly strength training this September was to do an un-assisted pull-up one day ๐Ÿคž

I was dismayed when I took my hubbie bouldering and I couldnโ€™t hang from a rock at all - my shoulders just couldnโ€™t take my body weight at all ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Well TODAY I met that goal ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ I am so thrilled ๐Ÿ˜„ onwards and upwards to build my reps and strength now ๐Ÿ’ช

This week has seen the return of my choreographed Christmas sessions! ๐Ÿ˜„

3 weeks of Christmas tunes and doing Pilates exercises in time to the music! ๐Ÿ•บ

Most of us LOVE these sessions as the music is so motivating for what turns into a tough workout - both the tempo of the exercises you are doing, and the duration of doing them for the whole track makes it sincerely challenging ๐Ÿ˜…

The other great thing about these sessions is that EVERY class is doing the same routine, so it makes attendance very flexible in that you can come to any level class that suits your increasingly busy timetable this time of year! ๐Ÿ˜…

This week is bodyweight, NEXT week is foam rollers, and week 3 is bodyweight again ๐Ÿ‘

My outfit will get gradually bigger all 3 weeks ๐Ÿ˜… thankfully my new Christmas leggings did just the entertaining trick for this little one this morning ๐Ÿฅฐ

Mondays: 10:45-11:45am and 11:45-12:45pm

Wednesdays: 12-1pm

Fridays: 11-12pm and 12-1pm

Book in for an hour Physio Gym Assessment on my website and we can have a full review of you and your training needs/goals ๐Ÿ‘ During this assessment we will establish and practice 6+ different exercises tailored for you ๐Ÿ™Œ we will figure out what resistance, sets, repsโ€ฆetc are right for you to get started with, and then all this information will get typed up and sent to you as a PDF plan ๐Ÿ˜Š

You then attend these small 3 person group sessions where I will hand you a copy of your plan, and you work round your 6+ exercises with my support and supervision as you get used to the exercises and working out in this lovely private gym environment ๐Ÿฅฐ

These sessions aim to build peopleโ€™s confidence and knowledge base with both strength exercises and exercising in a gym setting.

Iโ€™m SO excited to teach classes next week as the Halloween choreographed special is back! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ™Œ

With it being half term, there will be NO classes on Monday, Tuesday or Friday. Only Wednesday and Thursday classes will be on. ALL classes running will be of the same level since it is a choreographed Halloween Special! So please feel free to book into ANY of the classes depending what times you can manage ๐Ÿ‘

Pre and Post Natal at 9:30am on Thursday will be a PARTY PILATES! ๐Ÿฅณ Halloween snacks, decorations and dress up encouraged! My two little monsters will be there ๐Ÿฅฐ PLEASE pre book for this ๐Ÿ™

Always feel very blessed to love my clients and love my job ๐Ÿ™

I always try to emphasise to clients that as long as they are moving regularly and safely then I am a happy Physio no matter where that is ๐Ÿ™Œ

I will always do my best to educate people on how to achieve the best movement and strength, working WITH their bodies and medical history to make movement work for them. The extra bonus is if we can find something they slightly enjoy too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Exercise isnโ€™t every persons favourite thing, but regular MOVEMENT is CRITICAL for ALL bodies, and one of a Physios biggest jobs is trying to match people with a form of movement that they will at least comply with (even if they donโ€™t enjoy it) to try keep their body and function as good as possible.
