The Duchy Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, has proudly served Harrogate since 1959. We offer expert care in hip, knee, and cataract surgery, supported by two theatres with laminar flow, advanced imaging, and a holistic wellbeing program. Our 27 private rooms all include en-suite facilities, TV, internet, and nurse call systems. With over 80 experienced consultants and 24-hour resident medical officers, patient safety and comfort are our top priorities. Please note, we do not treat patients under 18.

Earlier this week, we hosted a patient information evening with Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Mark Farndon, where he shared expert guidance on key aspects of ankle pain and injury.

During the event, Mr Farndon delivered two short talks, explaining the common causes of long‑term ankle pain and when treatments such as ankle replacement may be considered, as well as why certain sports‑related injuries don’t fully heal and what treatment options can support recovery.

Attendees also had the chance to ask their own questions during a Q&A, making it a really informative session for anyone wanting to better understand their ankle symptoms and the options available to them.

Carys received several nominations from her colleagues for her hardworking, cheery and friendly nature. Last month, we hosted a patient event at Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate, with Consultant Urologist, Mr Aditya Raja, where he explained how prostate cancer is diagnosed, including common tests such as PSA blood tests and scans, and guided attendees through what to expect during the diagnostic process.

Attendees also had the chance to ask their own questions and speak with Mr Raja one‑to‑one, making it a really informative session for anyone wanting to learn more about prostate health.

We recently set ourselves the sustainability goal of removing single‑use paper cups from the hospital.

We are delighted to announce that we have managed to reduce our usage from 2,000 cups a month to 0. That’s thousands of cups saved from landfill and a meaningful reduction in carbon emissions!

We would like to say a huge thank you to our staff for switching to reusable cups, and a special shout‑out to the catering team for helping make this possible with reusable options for patients and visitors.
