Arriving for your first scan feeling nervous is so normal.

This lovely couple came to Cocoon for an early scan and shared that they felt at ease from the moment they arrived. They mentioned the warm welcome from Katie and how calm and reassuring Gemma made them feel throughout the scan.

That’s exactly what we hope for. A space that feels gentle, a team that takes time, and care that helps you settle rather than rush.

Thank you for trusting us with such an important first moment in your pregnancy. We’re so glad it felt as calm and supportive as it should, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for your gender scan.

If you’re feeling nervous about booking an early scan, you’re not alone. We’re here to talk things through, answer your questions, and help you feel supported every step of the way.

Early pregnancy often comes with a lot of questions, even when everything seems to be going well. It’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to ask, especially if you’re feeling nervous or overwhelmed.

Here are a few questions that many people find helpful to ask during an early scan.

What can we see today, and what’s normal at this stage
How are dates worked out, and what does that mean for my due date
Do my symptoms sound typical, and is there anything to keep an eye on
What usually happens next, and when might another scan be recommended
And if something has been worrying you, you can say it out loud. There’s space for that too

You don’t need to remember everything. We’ll talk things through with you gently and clearly. And if you’d like extra support alongside your scan, our midwife appointments are available as well.

Save this for your appointment if it helps.

That first positive test can bring so many feelings. Excitement, relief, disbelief, and often a fair bit of worry too. It’s completely normal to feel unsure, especially in those early weeks when everything still feels fragile and new.

An early pregnancy scan at Cocoon is a calm, unhurried appointment. We begin by checking in with you, giving you space to talk about how you’re feeling and what’s brought you in. During the scan, we explain what we’re seeing on the screen, what’s typical at this stage, and gently answer any questions as we go.

There’s no expectation to feel a certain way. You’re welcome to bring someone with you, and if you need a quiet moment at any point, we’ll always respect that. Our aim is simply that you leave feeling a little steadier and clearer than when you arrived.

If you’re around six weeks or more and feel like you need reassurance, you can book an early pregnancy scan whenever it feels right for you.

The start of a new year can bring a mix of feelings. Hope, uncertainty, relief, anticipation, or simply the quiet need to take things one step at a time.

At Cocoon, we know that new beginnings don’t always arrive with clarity or confidence. Sometimes they arrive gently, after a long year, carrying questions rather than answers.

As this new year begins, we hope it brings moments of steadiness, support, and care, whatever shape your journey takes. There’s no rush to set intentions or plans. Moving forward at your own pace is enough.

From all of us at Cocoon, we’re wishing you a gentle start to the year ahead.

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to every person and family who has walked through our doors this year. Whether you came to us for reassurance, support, answers, celebration, or care during a difficult moment, we are incredibly grateful that you chose Cocoon.

This year has been filled with so many different stories. Some joyful, some challenging, many deeply personal. It is a privilege to be trusted with them, and we do not take that lightly. Every appointment, conversation and connection matters to us.

Thank you also to our community for your kindness, your feedback, and the way you continue to support and recommend us. It truly means more than you know.

From all of us at Cocoon, we are wishing you a gentle Christmas and a new year filled with hope, care and calm.

Christmas can look very different for everyone. For some, it’s a time of celebration and togetherness.

For others, it’s quieter, heavier, or a mix of emotions that don’t fit neatly into a season that’s meant to feel joyful.

At Cocoon, we’re mindful that this time of year can bring up a lot. Hope, gratitude, longing, reflection, and sometimes sadness too. All of it is valid.

As the pace slows over the festive period, we hope you’re able to find moments of rest, however small they might be. A pause. A breath. A little kindness towards yourself.

Wherever you are in your journey this Christmas, we’re thinking of you.

We recently received this review, and it stayed with us.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t receive the news we were hoping for, but Gemma was so kind, compassionate and caring during the appointment. Following our devastating news, Cocoon reached out to ensure we had all the support that we needed, including counselling sessions and making the referral to Harrogate EPAU so that we didn’t have to.”

Moments like these remind us why care has to be about more than appointments or outcomes. When news is difficult, what matters most is being treated with kindness, clarity and humanity, and not being left to navigate next steps alone.

At Cocoon, we believe support should continue beyond the scan room. That means checking in, helping with referrals, offering emotional support, and making sure people feel held during an incredibly hard time.

We’re deeply grateful to this family for trusting us and for taking the time to share their experience and allowing us to support them through this difficult time.

Before the scan begins. Before the equipment is switched on. Before anything clinical happens.

The first part of an appointment at Cocoon is simply about checking in. Taking a moment to arrive, to breathe, and to talk through how you’re feeling before we do anything else.

We know that many people walk through our doors feeling nervous. Sometimes it’s excitement, sometimes it’s worry, sometimes it’s a mix of both. You might be coming in after a difficult experience, during fertility treatment, or simply unsure of what to expect. Whatever you’re carrying, there’s space for it here.

Those first few minutes matter. They give you time to ask questions, share concerns, or say the things that feel important before we move on. They help set a calm, steady tone for the rest of your appointment, so you feel settled and supported rather than rushed.

Care doesn’t start with a scan. It starts with a conversation.

If you’ve been putting off booking because you’re feeling unsure or anxious, please know that you’re not alone in that feeling. When you’re ready, we’re here to take things at your pace.

Feeling safe and supported isn’t about one standout moment, it’s about knowing that each appointment will feel steady, considered and kind.

That’s what we aim for. Familiar faces, time to talk things through, and care that doesn’t rush or overwhelm. Whether it’s an early scan, a check-in, or ongoing support through pregnancy, we want every visit to feel like a place you can settle into, not brace yourself for.

Thank you to this client for trusting our team throughout their journey. It means a great deal to know that our care helped them feel secure and supported along the way.

Understanding what’s happening inside your body can be incredibly empowering, especially when it comes to your reproductive and pelvic health. Our Well Woman Scan offers a thorough look at your ovaries, uterus and pelvic anatomy, giving you clear baseline information that can support fertility planning, symptom investigation or simple peace of mind.

During your appointment, one of our experienced sonographers will take time to talk through any questions before gently carrying out the scan. We assess both ovaries and visible follicles, the uterus, the womb lining and both pelvic areas, helping to identify or rule out common conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries or pelvic inflammatory disease.

For the most accurate results, this scan is usually performed trans-vaginally, but your sonographer will explain everything in advance so you know exactly what to expect and feel comfortable throughout.

After your scan, you’ll receive a written report and digital images directly to your email so you have everything clearly documented.

If you’d like a clearer understanding of your reproductive health, you can book through our website or drop us a message.
