Hello and welcome to The Moon sees my Soul. My name is Sarah, and I'm a Reiki practitioner. I work from my home between Ripon and Harrogate.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique, which can help you heal mentally, physically and spiritually.

Still got that one person to buy s gift for this year? That one friend (or family member) that always eludes your shopping list because nothing seems quite right?

They’re not the kind of person that’s catered for in regular shops?

They live in a world of their own making? By their own rules?

They’re always hugely grateful for any gift they get, but you know they don’t quite land right? The smelly candle, the book on sourdough, the scarf.

The more I think about Reiki, the more I see it as a gateway. As an opening to a different way of life.

For me it was an opening of my eyes initially – to seeing the situation I was in.
Then it became an opening of my heart, when I knew that I deserved better than I was getting.

Then it became a spiritual opening. The more I welcomed Reiki into my life, the more I felt the urge to connect with it and that’s when I began my training.

Every encounter with Reiki (giving and receiving) has opened my eyes to new possibilities, new happenings and new experiences.

No two Reiki sessions are the same, and that certainly keeps me on the ball!

There’s something infinitely magical to me about Reiki – the ritual and the intention coming together to connect the practitioner with the energy of the universe and the energy of their client. The healing state that this helps create.

Is there any wonder, really, that we have no idea who we really are? We were never designed to feel all these pressures, to do all the things all the time.

Modern life has put us out of touch with our cycles and those of nature. In winter we should be hunkering down, not gearing up.

Reiki can give you a pause. A reminder. And if necessary a poke in the right direction. The direction of the real you. If you give yourself anything this Christmas, let it be the gift of coming home to yourself.

I’m a big believer in looking for the beauty in this messy world. It’s too easy to take what is shown to us, and believe that the whole world is on fire – and perhaps it really is, but there are still pockets of goodness out there.

There are still people creating from their hearts and setting their works loose in the world, in the hope that it will touch people’s lives and make their days just that little bit brighter.

I’ve been getting a fantastic series of emails, all about how to bring calm to your Christmas if you’re a sensitive type, and they’ve lit up my mornings. Thank you

There are people who are putting their healing, writing, baking, feng shui, EFT, and coaching skills out there so that we can see that there are people who still care. You just need to go looking for them…

November’s new moon in Scorpio brings an opening and closing of doors. It’s time to open the door on next year, and all we want to take with us. At the same time, it’s time to close the door on all the things that don’t serve us and that we want to leave behind in 2025.

It is a time of looking inwards, towards all that we keep a secret from others for fear of judgement. It’s time to love who you are, and let that shine.

We all want to belong, whether that’s friends, family or some other community. Belonging is what makes us human. But what if socialising isn’t something that we dread?

Christmas can be a hard one for Sensitive folk, with loud noises, bright flashing lights and the energy of lots of people to contend with. Even family gatherings can tough.

What if we look outside the confines of the social norms…

Our friends and our cheerleaders may exist inside our phones - and that’s okay. Phone friends are definitely real friends.

So this Christmas, remember: you don’t have to do anything, or go anywhere, that makes you uncomfortable or unhappy. It’s the season of goodwill, so how about extending that good will to yourself?

It’s taken a long time for me to even begin to feel this way:

48 and ¾ years

9 months of therapy

A year of nervous system retraining

A lot of floundering around

And a fair few days when I’d rather just stay in bed (today being one of them).

But I’m here, and I am (largely) unapologetically yours. But don’t think I suddenly woke up this way one morning. For a chronic people-pleaser that takes a lot personally, this has not been an easy path, but I’m so glad you’re along for ride x

We please others, we look after others, we nurture others and we run around after others. At the end of the day, who has your back? Who has your best interests at heart?

We all know that we need to treat ourselves better. To love ourselves more. But it can feel impossible to carve out that space and time in the middle of our busy and hectic lives. This is where Reiki can come in.

Receiving Reiki is an incredibly peaceful experience. It’s just you, me and the energy.

Why not embrace Reiki and see it as your alone time? A way to recharge in more ways than one.

Never apologise for needing time to yourself.

I sometimes get this really desperate need to find something, or to do something. I had this feeling a lot growing up. It went away when I started pretending to be someone I wasn’t. But now it’s back.

It’s as if there’s something just out of reach, but I know that it’s meant for me. And, since I discovered Reiki, I know what one day I’ll find it.

Reiki can act as a gateway to the next part of your life. It can also act as a reminder of what you’ve always known deep down.
