πŸ’› "It's amazing how much good it does do." If you have received a cancer diagnosis in the Harrogate and District NHS Trust area, you will also have received information about , our free NHS health and wellbeing service.

Perhaps you haven't had chance to act with all the appointments and treatment info that a new cancer diagnosis brings. Or you may feel that you're not fit enough to join exercise sessions.

We asked Joan, one of our patients, about why people shouldn't feel nervous about their fitness level when they get in touch. Our 'what to expect in your first exercise session' also has lots of practical information to help your first exercise class go smoothly.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ "People would think that, for your recovery, you need to rest." Like many people with a recent cancer diagnosis, Kerry thought that rest, not exercise, would be important for her recovery.

But, with the guidance and support of the highly-skilled physical trainers at , she felt confident to join our exercise sessions, knowing that the team were aware of each patient's health issues.

We cater for patients with a range of complex medical needs - as well as our in-person exercise sessions in and , we can also support patients to exercise at home.

As Suzy Walker, Lead Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist for the lung team at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust explains, this can be a lifeline for the most unwell patients who may struggle to attend the group sessions.
