Needling topicals into the skin requires careful consideration. Despite seeing these treatments trending on social media, it is crucial to understand the risks and limitations involved. Both the MHRA and our experts at SkinMed© advise against needling products like hyaluronic acid or growth factors directly into the skin, as this can lead to systemic complications, unless there is clear systemic and topical safety data.

The MHRA have said without this safety data practitioners and pen distributors and manufacturers are open to legal proceedings. Instead, we recommend applying these products topically post-needling, whereby cellular absorption across cell walls is temporarily enhanced by up to 500% without compromising patient safety.

Rosacea – a chronic skin condition affecting 4 million woman over 35 with pre rosacea (flushing worsening) or full blown vascular rosacea (with a number also suffering with papules and pustules, or swelling of the nose or eye involvement).
