Harrogate Neighbours We provide outstanding care and support services to the elderly in Harrogate and the surrounding areas.

Harrogate Neighbours runs two of the best elderly care homes in Harrogate and the surrounding area. The Cuttings is our extra care housing in Starbeck, which offers independent living and 24 hour support as well as a new Day Care centre for elderly people to come and socialise. Heath Lodge is our residential home in Boroughbridge, which offers additional care for those with dementia. We also support our community through Greenfield Court Care, a highly rated home care service for those who want to stay at home but need a bit of help, and our meals on wheels service which delivers hot, fresh meals to elderly or vulnerable people 5 days a week. Finally, we have our Community Hub, dedicated to serving the local area with support and help.

The Power of Art - World Art Day 2026 🎨🖌👨🏻‍👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

This year's theme for World Art Day is "A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art".

It's about "...the role of art in bringing people together, encouraging community bonding, and celebrating diverse creative expressions. It emphasizes nurturing creativity and fostering connection through artistic endeavours." 💪💪💪

Neil is one our new tenants at The Cuttings and has already made a huge impression with the art he has made and brought with him. These two paintings, now hanging in our Quiet Lounge have already done a superb job in brightening up the room and starting many conversations - friendship made through art! 👌🙂

We're looking forward to seeing more paintings that Neil will produce, both on his art and in our Monday Art Club. 🧐🙌

Place Your Bets - It's Casino Night! 🎰🎰🎰

We packed out both floors of The Roberts Club in Harrogate with sponsors, residents, staff and friends ready to take a chance on the spin of the roulette wheel and the twist of cards in the blackjack and poker games. ♥️♠️♣️♦️🃏

There was a lot of chatting, laughing and dancing and many new friends were made. 🗣😄💃🕺💃🏻💃🏽💃🏼🕺🏻

Everyone had a fantastic time and we managed to raise £2400!!! 👏👏👏

In our Day Care Centre at The Cuttings, we have been not only chatting about the beauty of flowers but also making our own arrangements. 💐💐💐💐💐

Long stem, short stem, pink buds, sunburst blossoms of yellow - the variety of flowers is endless, but one thing is true for all of them, whichever configuration you put them in - they are all small miracles of beauty! 👌🙂

Margaret from Musical Moments hopped 🐰 into Heath Lodge over Easter to entertain us with her fantastic music and dance. 🎶🎵💃🎶🎵

We all joined in while holding tulips and singing 'Tulips from Amsterdam', throwing and catching a soft, toy bunny rabbit! It was great fun!!! 🙂🙂🙂

Margaret then played the flute for us and strummed her ukulele, singing 'You are my Sunshine' - we couldn't resist joining in! 👏👏👏

It's Community Garden Week 2026 🌸🥀🌳🌷🌾

As part of celebrating Community Garden Week our Gardening Club and visitors to our Day Care Centre have been planting sunflower seeds. 🌻🌻🌻

Each tiny pot has been labelled with the name of the gardener (things will get competitive!) and we'll see who's is the tallest and straightest out of the ground - let the games begin! 💪💪💪

We've all learnt how important preparation is to gaining a spectacular garden - just check out out daffodils! 🏆

We would like to acknowledge the wonderful work that the charity, do in helping to enrich people's lives through he wonders of nature. 🙌🙌🙌

We Didn't Make it Easy! 🤔🤔🤔

Our Easter egg hunt over the weekend was a challenge but we enjoyed searching every nook and cranny desperate to find the little chocolate eggs. 🧐🤓

Along walls, down in pots and even on the rim of our fountain, we looked and eventually found the little eggs glittering in their foiled wrappers. 🥚🥚🥚👏👏👏

The good weather helped and the taste of chocolate at the end was a wonderful reward! 👌🙂

Andrew Bull visited us at The Cuttings to give an Easter-themed quiz.

Accompanied by his two charismatic assistants, Katie and young Daisy, the questions came thick and fast and there was much head-scratching among the teams. 🤔🤔🤔

3. In which country did the Easter Bunny originate?

Whether we knew the answers or not, there were plenty of Easter eggs for everyone! 👏👏👏🙂

We're No Fools! 💪💪💪

But we have been making our own fruit fool, more specifically, rhubarb fool, using our very own homegrown rhubarb. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳👩‍🍳👨‍🍳👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Boiled up to a stew and with the addition of Greek yoghurt, double cream and a sprinkling of sugar, we made the most delicious and dessert possible - so simple a fool could make it! 👌🙂
