We provide outstanding care and support services to the elderly in Harrogate and the surrounding areas.

Harrogate Neighbours runs two of the best elderly care homes in Harrogate and the surrounding area. The Cuttings is our extra care housing in Starbeck, which offers independent living and 24 hour support as well as a new Day Care centre for elderly people to come and socialise. Heath Lodge is our residential home in Boroughbridge, which offers additional care for those with dementia. We also support our community through Greenfield Court Care, a highly rated home care service for those who want to stay at home but need a bit of help, and our meals on wheels service which delivers hot, fresh meals to elderly or vulnerable people 5 days a week. Finally, we have our Community Hub, dedicated to serving the local area with support and help.

Autumnal Colours! 🍃🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂

With the season and the the weather changing, our Art Group have been making works with colours turning from green to ochre, orange and brown. Dyes rubbed over leaves have left negative spaces that some have filled with sewn-in midribs and veins producing semi-abstract visions of leaves about to fall. 🍂🍂🍂

We can feel the winds blowing and the leaves teetering already! 🌬🍂🍂 🍂 🍂 🍂

Our Top Taste Testers - For Melons and Apples! 🍏🍈🤔

Apples are fairly easy to grow - England's temperate climate is perfect for them - but trying to grow melons can be trickier as they need warmer temperatures in order to thrive. 🍈🙏🙏🙏

Thankfully, our newly installed polytunnel has provided the warmth and protection in order for them to grow to...perfection? Only our top taste testers can be trusted for an accurate appraisal...
..it's a YES! The melons are sensational! 🍈🍈🍈👌

Gasps Aplenty!!! 😱😱😱

Anyone remotely squeamish about all things creepy and crawly, slithery and slimy, should look away NOW! 🐍🐍🐛🐍🐍🕷🐍🐍🦂🐍

Those with a braver disposition might like to see our pics from Heath Lodge featuring snakes, scorpions, centipedes, giant cockroaches and the like.

Thanks to a wonderful and very informative visit from Zoo Lab, any fears we might have had about these mini "monsters" disappeared as we handled them and learnt all about their habits and lifestyles. 👌🙂

'Starbeck in Bloom' - We Have a Winner!!! 🏆

This year's Summer Show trophy winners included our very own CEO, Sue Cawthray, who took IST PRIZE for her stunning photo of a train on the Carunda Scenic Railway passing over a gorge in the sub-tropical landscape of Cairns in Australia.

Not content with just winning the railway-themed photographic competition, was also awarded 2nd Prize 🥈 for Best Apples 🍏 (we're nibbling on them now! 👌🙂) and 3rd Prize 🥉 in the Best Orchid 🌸Competition (Sue swears it's not a plastic! 🤫).

Well done, Sue!!! We're very proud! 👏👏👏

Our Chitter-Chatter Club Cover Holiday Memories 🌴😎☀️🏖🏄⛱

Our fortnightly Chitter-Chatter Club covers many topics, but family holidays have still been the main topic of discussion. Listening about trips to Norfolk at and a week-long holiday on the to visiting family in Hungary, turned us all into avid armchair travellers! 🙂🙂🙂

However, living through an earthquake in the middle of the night in New Zealand was one experience we were very happy to have from afar! 😱😱😱

Although our charity clothing bin is easily accessible, some of us sometimes need a helping hand to pop the bag in the chute. Thankfully, we know how to work as a team and get things done! 🙂

If you have any clothing that you no longer need, please feel free to drop them off into our charity clothing bin just inside our gates at The Cuttings.
Access is available day or night. 👍

Today is READ A BOOK DAY, and we celebrated by inviting some guests along to read to residents and visitors from their favourite fiction!
Ian McCluskey from and Kate Button from kindly donated some of their time to join our very own Jamie to read a selection of passages from some well known stories!
Our audience enjoyed excerpts from The Hobbit, The Cat that came in from the cold, Wind in the Willows, The Thursday Murder Club, and several Terry Pratchett novels!
As a finale, the trio performed an impromptu performance of Hansel and Gretel... which went as well as could have been expected!

What a Pretty "Poly...tunnel"!👀👀👀

Building our polytunnel has been an epic journey involving making a solid base, adding pavers, assembling the framework and covering it with its tough, translucent cover. PHEW!!! 🤯

Then came adding the internal workbench and a wide sliding door. 🛠🔩🛠🔩

The extra protection from the elements has allowed our residents to plant more delicate crops and has meant the tomatoes are growing at a super-fast rate! 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅

Our polytunnel is much more than just a "Pretty Polly" - it's a vital addition to our garden! 👌🙂
