Would you know what to do if someone fainted in front of you?
Here are 3 simple steps that can make all the difference:
1️⃣ Check they’re breathing – if they are, gently lay them on their back (or if they are pregnant, lay them on their side)
2️⃣ Raise their legs slightly (if possible) to help blood flow to the brain
3️⃣ Loosen tight clothing and let them come round naturally - don’t rush them
Most fainting spells are over in a few minutes. If they don’t wake up quickly, or you’re worried, always call 999.
It’s easier than you think - and the good news is you don’t need to panic.
This is exactly the kind of practical, confidence-building skill you’ll learn on my Emergency First Aid courses - so when real life happens, you’ll know what to do. If you want to find out when the next course is running in Harrogate, please get in touch.
