Sometimes, a small change of scenery is all it takes to lift our spirits. For people living with dementia, getting out and doing something different can ease overstimulation and spark memories through familiar scents and surroundings. We love our outings, whether it’s a stroll through Valley Gardens, a trip into town, or a visit to the garden centre. We find activities that our residents love. 🌼🌳🛍️

🌼 Here’s our June roundup of some of the lovely things we’ve been up to! From a special visit from Hazel the pony 🐴, a fun silent disco with lots of dancing 💃🕺, to delicious afternoon tea, games, gardening, and soaking up the sunshine ☀️. We’ve loved catching up with friends and, of course, always enjoy when families come to visit. ❤️✨

Game, set, match! We kicked off Wimbledon under the glorious sunshine with games of tennis and of course, strawberries and cream in true Wimbledon style. The weather stayed for the evening, so we rounded the day off by enjoying tea out in the garden. A perfect way to make the most of the summer warmth. 🍓🎾

Today is World Music Day! 🎶

Music plays a vital role in our daily lives and is a powerful tool we use every day with our residents. Whether it’s calming background melodies, lively dance sessions including silent discos, or reminiscing through beloved songs, music has an incredible ability to lift spirits. It supports memory stimulation, eases anxiety and depression, and enhances overall well-being. Music not only helps us connect and engage with our residents, but it also brings joy and energy to our staff.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming The Great British Care Cycle Relay as they made a stop on their journey. It was a fantastic day, and we were thrilled to be part of it! A brilliant way to kick off next week. It was a pleasure to have families and residents come together to welcome the cyclists, and a huge well done to all the cyclists, we’re cheering you on for the rest of your journey!
