Harley curled up by the fire, keeping cosy.

I’m hoping it won’t be too long before the fire is no longer needed, and I can welcome my clients through a sunny door. This winter has felt very long, hasn’t it?

Spring will be arriving soon, and Harrogate is such a beautiful place to see it. Harlow Carr Gardens, Valley Gardens, and the Stray are especially lovely when the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom.

There are also some wonderful places to eat and drink nearby, including Westmoreland Café, right opposite me.

So if you’re travelling from outside the area, there’s plenty to enjoy after your appointment if you wish.

Do you ever feel completely exhausted… but unable to switch off?

Many people describe feeling “tired but wired.”

Your body feels drained, yet your mind keeps racing. Sleep becomes difficult, stress builds, and it can start to feel like your system is stuck on high alert.

It’s something I see a lot in clinic - often connected to ongoing stress, anxiety, hormonal changes, sleep disruption, or simply trying to carry too much for too long.

Sometimes, during the most difficult chapters of life, what’s needed most is gentleness.

Over the years, alongside my acupuncture and therapy practice, I volunteered within cancer services, offering acupuncture in a supportive role to those going through treatment and recovery. It was a privilege to work in that space, and it’s something that has deeply shaped the way I practise. I care about this area very much.

Cancer and its treatment can affect the whole person, physically and emotionally. Acupuncture is never a replacement for medical care, but it can be a calm, supportive therapy alongside it.

Many people find it may help with:

• Fatigue and low energy
• Nausea and digestive discomfort
• Sleep difficulties
• Hot flushes
• Aches, joint pain and stiffness
• Anxiety and emotional strain

Treatments are always gentle and adapted to how you’re feeling on the day. There is space to rest, to breathe, and simply to be supported.

Are you a carer?

Caring for someone you love can be one of the most demanding roles there is.

The long days.
The constant responsibility.
The emotional weight of always being the strong one.

For some, caring for a parent brings another layer of complexity, especially if the relationship growing up was challenging. If your own needs didn’t always feel met, stepping into a caregiving role can stir up old emotions alongside the practical demands.

You might feel:

• Guilt for feeling resentful
• Pressure to “do the right thing”
• Exhaustion that goes beyond physical tiredness
• Conflicted emotions you don’t talk about

And all of that is human.

Therapy can offer a safe space to unpack those feelings, without judgement. It allows you to explore boundaries, process past experiences, and understand the mix of love, duty and frustration that can coexist.

I thought I was just tired.
Just busy.
Just going through a “stressful patch”.

I told myself everyone feels like this.

Running on caffeine.
Snapping more easily.
Forgetting small things.
Feeling overwhelmed by simple decisions.
Being exhausted… but unable to switch off.

I kept functioning.
Going to work.
Replying to messages.
Ticking off the to-do list.

On the outside, everything looked fine.

But on the inside, I felt like I was constantly behind… constantly on edge… constantly trying to catch up with life.

Burnout doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it just looks like carrying on.

Lying awake at night replaying conversations.
Feeling detached from things you used to enjoy.
Having no real energy, just momentum.

And because you’re still “coping”, you convince yourself it’s not that bad.
