Well off they go! ⛰️

Our amazing Wendy and Tim, and the fab Claire from our on site lab, are about to set off to Africa to have a little wander up that rather large mountain Mount Kilimanjaro!! Months of training, planning and chats are over and this epic adventure is now just a short plane ride away! All our climbers have been raising money for local charities and we are all so so proud of your efforts so far and can't wait to hear how you get on! 💪

Where is my mouthwash? 🫗

You may have noticed we no longer routinely put out a mouthwash?

We use a lot of single use items (as you may expect!) and these are often made of plastic. So much more is recycled now than it used to be but we still have a lot of waste that cannot be recycled due to the strict contaminated waste procedures we must adhere too.

Where we can, we are trying to cut down on all plastic usage and this has included removing the plastic cup with mouthwash in for every patient. This does not however mean we don't have it! If you want a rinse to freshen your mouth then please just ask and that familiar green sight will be back out for you in a jiffy! ♻️

We place implants day in day out here at Raglan but the world of dentistry moves quick! It is vital that we continue educating ourselves and others... and that's exactly what we have been doing this past month.

Our nurses all took part in a fantastic course run by our implant supplier . They all got to have a go on the other side of the chair for a change practicing placing implants in false jaws and sinus elevation on eggs! .....don't worry though, you will only see them caring for you and ensuring you are comfortable during your appointments on their own side of the chair!

One of our implant surgeons Tim Doswell, went a little further afield and had a trip to the EMEA Dental Conference in Prague. Tim delivered a lecture to fellow dentists on all of his experience placing implants.

Let's talk Orthodontics!

Ortho, in dental slang, is moving teeth with either fixed or removable appliances to straighten teeth and/or improve function.
Not just for children, ortho is as popular as ever with adults and with so many treatment options it's easy to see why.

Many adults have thought about orthodontic treatment at some point in their adult life, to correct either minor imperfections in their smile or more severe issues, however, are put off by the thought of big metal train-tracks and years of treatment time.....think again....

👀 Follow our very own Christina as she embarks on her ortho journey!

"I have had ortho treatment twice in the past and have had a fixed retainer in place for many years. It broke a while ago, and despite having Megan and Chris on my surgery doorstep I put of going just because you do! However, I was becoming aware of one of my front teeth moving and started to notice it more and more in photos, so I had a chat with Megan to simply repair the fixed retainer and retain it, as I didn't want it to get any worse. Being the wonderful Megan she is, she sat me down and we had a chat about not just retaining it where it is but wiggling it back in to place. Meg took an x-ray to check suitability and advised to put on a fixed brace, straighten it out and then retain again. Sold! Megan advised treatment time would be around 3-4 months and I opted for the ceramic brackets. Other options were available but I was happy having a fixed appliance as it leaves me no option but to wear it!"

As you can see from the photos this is a mild case but it bothered Christina.
Whether you yourself have that one twisted tooth that you can't take your eyes off in every photo taken, or feel every tooth in your mouth needs some attention, come and have a no obligation chat with our orthodontists. You don't know what you don't know!

We couldn't have asked for a better day on Friday as Team Raglan enjoyed our annual trip to York Races! It's no secret we all love working with each other but its always fun to get out of those scrubs and let our hair down!
