🌱 Spring in TCM = Liver Season 🌱

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is all about the Liver—the organ responsible for the smooth flow of Qi and emotions. Just like nature is starting to bloom and expand, your body is also trying to move, grow, and reset after winter 🌿

When Liver Qi flows freely, we feel motivated, calm, and energised. But when it becomes stuck or imbalanced, this is when symptoms can start to show…

✨ Common conditions we see in clinic during spring:
• Irritability, mood swings, or feeling “on edge”
• Headaches or migraines (often around the temples or eyes)
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Hormonal imbalances / PMS symptoms
• Digestive issues like bloating or IBS
• Eye problems (dryness, itchiness, blurry vision)
• Dizziness or a feeling of pressure in the head
• Tendon and joint stiffness

💚 In TCM, these are often linked to Liver Qi stagnation—something acupuncture is particularly good at helping to regulate.

🌸 How acupuncture can help:
By supporting the Liver and encouraging smooth Qi flow, treatments can help reduce pain, ease emotional tension, improve digestion, and restore balance as we transition into the new season.

Bottling up emotions? You might notice:
• Tight shoulders or neck
• Sighing often
• Irritability or mood swings
• Bloating or digestive changes when stressed
• Headaches or a feeling of pressure
• Feeling emotionally “pent up”

It’s the body’s way of saying: “Something needs to move.” If these emotions aren’t expressed or processed, they can start to get stuck.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this is called Liver Qi Stagnation.

And if stress goes on for a long time, the stagnation can start to show up with:

• Palpitations
• Anxiety or restlessness
• Poor sleep
• Feeling emotionally overwhelmed but unable to release it

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine aim to:
✨ Get Qi moving again
✨ Ease that “stuck” feeling
✨ Calm the nervous system
✨ Help emotions process instead of being stored

Thank you for the patient testimonial ✨

"Last year I was suffering from temporomandibular disorder - pain in the jaw joint when eating accompanied by noticeable loud cracking and I could hardly open my mouth. It was even difficult to get a toothbrush in my mouth. After each session with practitioner Emma, the pain and stiffness diminished and then the day following my third treatment, BINGO! I could open my mouth to the full extent. Now there is no more pain or loud cracking, I don't just have to eat soft food, and as an added bonus, my urinary niggles have vanished too."

Taiwanese researchers discovered acupuncture triggering stem cell release healing damaged organs naturally. Scientists at China Medical University found that electroacupuncture at specific meridian points stimulates bone marrow to release mesenchymal stem cells into circulation, which then migrate to injured organs and promote tissue repair. This mechanism explains acupuncture's therapeutic effects through measurable biological processes rather than placebo.

Traditional Chinese medicine has used acupuncture for thousands of years, but Western medicine dismissed it as placebo due to lack of biological mechanism. Taiwanese researchers using advanced imaging and cellular tracking discovered that needle stimulation at specific points triggers measurable stem cell mobilization—providing the first clear biological explanation for acupuncture's effects.

Electroacupuncture (needles with mild electrical current) at ST36 (Zusanli point) and GV20 (Baihui point) causes a 300% increase in circulating stem cells within 24 hours. These mobilized stem cells express homing signals drawing them to damaged tissues—injured liver, heart, kidneys, or brain—where they differentiate into organ-specific cells and release healing factors. It's like acupuncture triggers the body's internal repair dispatch system.

Stroke patients receiving electroacupuncture within 48 hours of stroke showed 40% better functional recovery than those receiving standard care alone. Liver cirrhosis patients showed reduced fibrosis markers. Heart attack survivors demonstrated improved cardiac function. The mechanism is entirely biological—traced stem cells from bone marrow to damaged organs. Skeptical Western physicians are reconsidering acupuncture given this mechanistic evidence. We're discovering that ancient healing practices work through sophisticated biological mechanisms science is only now capable of detecting.
