East Parade Surgery

East Parade Surgery East Parade Surgery is a family orientated GP practice welcoming new patients East Parade Surgery is extremely enthusiastic about the care we give our patients.

We take a patient centred approach and encourage self care with the support of the doctors, nurses and community teams. The 7 regular GPs strive to continually improve the way the practice works. We want to hear our patients opinions and thoughts. We all are excited about general practice and have many areas of interest. This practice is delighted to be signed up to the Green Impact for Health Too

lkit and is actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint. The climate emergency is also a health emergency, and health care in the UK contributes 5.4% of the UK's carbon emissions. We need to enhance the health of our current population without compromising the health of future generations, and this means operating within the sustainable boundaries of the planet. Fortunately most of the solutions for the planet also make our health better - for example eating a mainly plant-based diet, engaging in active travel and exercise in nature, avoiding smoking, reducing pollution etc all enhance our health and reduce our need for medications, with further benefits to the NHS, your health and the carbon footprint of healthcare. Take a look at www.greenerpractice.co.uk to learn more about this

YorSexual Health provide free and confidential sexual health services across York and North Yorkshire, including STI testing and treatment; contraception; vaccinations; PrEP (for those at risk of HIV); counselling; and cervical screening.

Did you know that you should have an STI test before and after each new sexual partner, or every 3 months if you are changing partners regularly? Women under 25 should also have an annual STI test. Some STIs have no symptoms but if left untreated, long term implications can include infertility. STI testing involves a urine sample or self-administered vaginal swab for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, and a blood test for HIV and Syphilis.

YSH have appointments available this week - call their central bookings team on 01904 721111 to book in. Interested in their services? Follow YSH York & North Yorkshire on Facebook and Instagram for service updates, news, and tips on how to take care of your sexual health.

March 4th is International HPV Day:

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) directly affects 4 out of 5 of us. While most of us never experience symptoms, the virus can cause six known forms of cancer affecting women and men, and claims almost half a million lives globally every year. These are lives that could be saved. People of every background, nationality, race, gender.

We can prevent HPV-related cancer. We have the tools at our disposal: The HPV vaccine has proven to be highly effective in preventing HPV-related cancer. Cervical screening detects cervical cancers and pre-cancers, making effective treatment possible. Yet we face barriers to circulating the necessary information and achieving universal access to affordable HPV vaccination programs and to cervical screening. For further information on HPV, please visit:

HPV is the human papillomavirus. Almost all of us will have HPV at some point and while for most of us it isn't harmful, HPV is linked to several kinds of cancer. This site provides information to help learn about HPV and reduce your cancer risks.
