We were delighted to welcome colleagues from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to our office this week.

The visit was an opportunity for DHSC civil servants to gain first-hand insight into how home care is delivered in our community, the challenges we face, and the difference high-quality care makes to people’s everyday lives.

During the visit, we covered:
- Our journey of digitising records and integrating GP Connect with our systems
- The vital contributions of overseas workers to both our clients and our business
- Local recruitment challenges and barriers in the home care sector
- The true cost of care – including local council rates and breakdowns
- An opportunity for DHSC colleagues to hear real stories

We’re proud to have had the chance to share the realities of home care; the rewards, the challenges, and the opportunities for improvement, directly with those shaping national policy.

On Wednesday, we held our monthly Carers Connect team meeting - and what a great turnout it was!

A huge thank you to Gabriela, our amazing senior carer, who treated the team to some incredible homemade cakes 🍰❤️

At Walfinch Harrow & Brent, we value our carers and take their wellbeing seriously. Following feedback from our staff survey, we’ve transformed our team meetings into interactive, engaging sessions where carers can share ideas, connect with each other, and have fun, because supporting one another is just as important as supporting our clients.

This month’s theme: Safeguarding - with great discussions and shared experiences that help keep everyone safe and informed.
