We’re delighted to announce that We Care Group and Summit Care Group are finalists in 5 categories at the National Care Awards 2025, taking place on 7th November in London.

This is a huge recognition of the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our teams across the group.

🏆 Hull KR Cup Visits Saltshouse Haven 🏆

We recently had a very special visit at Saltshouse Haven Care Home as the Hull KR Challenge Cup came to visit the home, brought in by former players Ben, Wayne and Frank. 🏉❤️

For many of our residents, Hull KR has been part of their lives for as long as they can remember. ❤️

None more so than resident Ian, a lifelong supporter whose love for the team runs deep.

Seeing the cup in person brought tears to his eyes. He got to wear some of the medals and meet his heroes! An emotional moment for the whole home.

Thank you to the amazing Hull KR family for helping us create such a personal experience.

The team and residents have been busy harvesting apples from the gardens, which were enjoyed in desserts prepared by Chef Stuart.

The remaining apples were kindly donated, helping support the wider community.

Walking for a cause close to our hearts 💙

A huge well done to the amazing team at Douglas Bank Nursing Home, who laced up their trainers and took part in the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk this weekend.

Together, they raised an incredible £532!

Every step helped fund vital dementia support and research, and we couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and team spirit.

Celebrating Our GrandFriends This Grandparents Day 🥰

This Grandparents Day, we’re not only celebrating the wonderful grandparents in our homes, but also our GrandFriends. 👵👶

Across We Care Group, many of our homes have formed beautiful intergenerational links with local schools and nurseries, like here at Saltshouse Haven Care Home, where little ones visit regularly to play, read, and generally bring happiness to our residents.

These visit mean so much:

🩷 For the children, it’s a chance to build empathy, confidence and connection.

💚 For our residents, it brings laughter, purpose and a sense of legacy.

The smiles and giggles speak for themselves, and the impact lasts far beyond each visit.

Happy Grandparents Day to our incredible residents, and thank you to the young people who help keep our hearts full!

🌱 Home-Grown Goodness at Barton Brook 🥕

The veg garden at Barton Brook is blooming and the fruits (and veg!) of our residents’ labour are finally paying off! 🍅🪴

After weeks of planting, watering and watching their garden grow, our green-fingered residents are proud to see their fresh tomatoes nearly ready for picking.

There’s nothing like growing your own, and the pride it’s brought to our Barton Brook family has been just as nourishing as the veg itself.

Here’s to more home-grown fruits and veggies in our gardens! 🍎 🩷💚
