Evelyn B | A Life of Care, Courage, and Captivating Stories

Today, we celebrate Evelyn B, a resident whose career reflects compassion, resilience, and a fearless sense of adventure.

🩺 Evelyn began her professional journey as a nurse, working on hospital wards where care and dedication were at the heart of her role.

🔐 She later changed direction and joined the Prison Service, where she was based at Garth Prison, a high-security facility housing 845 inmates, remaining there until her retirement.

🌍 Beyond her career, Evelyn has travelled extensively, spending a considerable amount of time in South Africa and embracing cultures from around the world.

💬 Evelyn is full of fascinating stories from her time in the prison service, keeping both residents and staff thoroughly entertained with her experiences and sharp wit.

Evelyn’s life is a wonderful blend of service, strength, and storytelling. We are proud to celebrate her as part of our care home community. 💙

At Amicura, we are proud to honour the remarkable life stories of the residents who make our care homes truly special.

Lynda H | A Life of Service, Strength, and Pride

Today, we recognise Lynda H, a resident whose entire career was dedicated to serving her country with courage and commitment.

🎖️ Lynda served in the military throughout her working life and was also married to a soldier, living a life shaped by service, resilience, and constant change.

🚑 During her time in the military, Lynda drove ambulances, playing a vital role in supporting others during times of need.

🌍 Her service took her across borders, including a relocation to Germany, before later returning to London as her career progressed.

👑 In one of the most remarkable chapters of her journey, Lynda served as the Queen's chauffeur for 3–4 years, a role that demanded professionalism, discretion, and immense trust.

Lynda often shares how proud she is to have worn the military uniform. Her story is one of strength, adaptability, and lifelong service, and we are honoured to celebrate her as part of the Jasmine Court family. 💙

At Amicura, we believe every life story deserves to be heard, respected, and celebrated.

Phillip M | A Legacy of Service and Skill

Today, we honour Phillip M, a resident whose life reflects dedication, craftsmanship, and service to the nation.

🇬🇧 Phillip joined the British Army through National Service at the age of 21, serving as a Royal Mechanical Engineer. Based in Devon, his role involved welding and fabrication work in Army workshops.

🚢 After leaving the Army, Phillip went on to help build ships, submarines, and aircraft, contributing to vital engineering projects across the UK.

👨‍👦‍👦 Phillip’s passion for service continues through his family, with his grandsons proudly following in his footsteps.

Phillip’s story reflects dedication, skill, and service across generations — a shining example of the strong veteran community within our care home.

Care That Goes Beyond Our Homes 💛

We are thrilled to share the positive impact of our Carol-Themed Christmas campaign. Thanks to the wonderful support shown on our festive posts, through each like and share, we have raised a total of £364. This amount has been donated to Age UK and Dementia UK, supporting older people and those living with dementia.

Guided by empathy and respect, Amicura Care is dedicated to supporting older people in meaningful ways.

✨ ACTIVE HEARTS AND LOVELY SMILES AT AMICURA 🥳

We have kicked off the first weeks of 2026 with plenty of movement, music, and furry friends across our homes!

⚽ Staying Active: Our residents at Andrew Cohen House enjoyed a gentle morning of armchair exercises with hoops and music, while over at Liberton Brae, there was plenty of laughter during a high-energy game of armchair hockey and catch!

🎶 Music & Smiles: The singing hasn't stopped! Haslingden Hall enjoyed their "Sing and Smile" class and Carnbroe Care Centre had a brilliant afternoon singing and dancing along to all the favourites with John Davidson.

💅 Time to Relax: It wasn’t all go-go-go; Carnbroe residents also enjoyed a "chilled" morning of manicures and hand massages, followed by some beautiful flower arranging thanks to a lovely donation from the Co-op.

🐕 Special Guests: We had a very important visit from Lily and Ella the dogs! They came looking for cuddles and treats, and they certainly weren't disappointed.🐾

✨ WELCOMING 2026 TOGETHER AT AMICURA 🥳

There is nothing quite like a New Year's lunch to bring everyone together!

🍽️ At Haslingden Hall, we shared a very special New Year’s lunch. It was wonderful to see residents and staff gathered together, sharing a meal and enjoying the fantastic atmosphere as we look forward to a bright year ahead.

✨ RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR AT AMICURA 🥳

Cheers to a healthy and happy 2026! Our residents have had a wonderful time welcoming the New Year together.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A Scottish Celebration: At Carnbroe Care Centre, we got cosy with hot chocolate and sweets before a proper Scottish sing-along. Residents and staff shared a lovely lunch toast to a happy year ahead.

🎶 Music & Games: Over at The Glen, we enjoyed a Sunday afternoon of hoopla followed by a fantastic New Year’s Eve party. The highlight was a visit from Tom Collins, who treated us to a wonderful performance on the bagpipes!

🎄 FESTIVE JOY AT AMICURA CARE HOMES 🎄

Christmas Day was a wonderful day, filled with presents and wonderful festive meals.

🥳 At Haslingden Hall residents had a fantastic time at their Christmas party and enjoyed a traditional lunch together.
🎁 At Liberton Brae, there were smiles all round as staff dressed up in festive costumes to hand out gifts. Everyone sat down to a lovely Christmas lunch to celebrate the day.
