Today, we hosted a fantastic Lunch & Learn session at Pinner Medical Centre, and were pleased to welcome Mr Aroon Baskaradas, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who delivered an engaging presentation on “Simplifying Hip and Knee Presentations: Fan, Scan or Plan?”

The interactive session explored:
• When to manage conservatively (Fan)
• When imaging is appropriate (Scan)
• When referral is required (Plan)

It was great to see such strong engagement, discussion and interaction from the local GP community throughout the session.

A huge thank you to Mr Baskaradas for his continued support, expertise, and valued presence within the local GP network. Sessions like these are invaluable in strengthening collaboration and shared learning across primary and secondary care.

When arthritis in the hip or knee reaches a point where pain, instability, and reduced function can no longer be managed with conservative treatments like injections or painkillers, joint replacement surgery becomes a highly effective solution.

With a special interest in minimally invasive joint replacement Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Ms Samantha Tross uses the latest techniques - including robotic-assisted surgery when possible - to ensure precision, faster recovery, and better outcomes.

She also emphasises the importance of physiotherapy and prehabilitation before surgery to prepare patients for the best possible results.

Thanks to these advanced approaches, many patients are up and about immediately after surgery, returning to the activities they love with renewed mobility and confidence!

This week, the hospital swapped theatre lists for table settings as we hosted our Orthopaedic Consultant Dinner at a local restaurant! It was an evening dedicated to great company, good food and even better conversation.

Our orthopaedic specialists came together in a relaxed setting, catching up with familiar faces, meeting new colleagues, and sharing stories and insights from across the field. It was a lovely reminder that while they may work in different clinics and theatres, they’re all part of the Clementine Churchill Hospital family.

As the evening unfolded, our senior management team, comprising of the Executive Director Lisa Trybus, Sales and Marketing Manager Deborah Yadev MBA Yadev, Business Development Manager Amit Sharma, and Associate Director of Clinical Services Kelly Citron, shared some of the work happening behind the scenes and some exciting plans ahead for the hospital.

The night was filled with laughter, connection, and a shared sense of purpose.

We’re already looking forward to hosting more evenings like this with our consultants across many specialties.
