Today, we are sharing a poem that reflects on what it really means to be autistic in a world that often relies on stereotypes.

It explores the experience of being told “you don’t look autistic,” the pressure of masking, the overwhelm that isn’t always visible, and the strengths that are too often simplified as “superpowers.” Most importantly, it invites us to see autism not as something to question or measure but as simply another way of being. 💚

At Nexus Fostering, neurodiversity isn’t an afterthought. We are proud to have a dedicated Head of Neurodiversity, ensuring that understanding, advocacy and meaningful support are embedded into our practice to help support our foster carers, children and young people. 😊

Today we’re proud to celebrate World Social Worker Day 💙

This week shines a light on the incredible impact of social workers, and we’re grateful to have such passionate, dedicated professionals across our team. Here are some of our Southwest team, making a difference every single day in the lives of children and young people.

While this week highlights the social work profession, it’s important to recognise that every colleague plays a vital role. The support we provide is only possible because of the collective effort of our whole team. Every role across our organisation is an essential part of the network that helps children and young people thrive.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Sensei Ethan and Eska Karate for recently hosting a fantastic karate session for our young people of all ages! 🥋😊

From action-packed games (with ‘Sensei Says’ being a clear favourite!) to learning new Karate moves, our young people asked lots of thoughtful questions and discovered just how beneficial Karate can be — not only for physical fitness, but for supporting positive mental wellbeing too.

Thank you Eska & Sensei Ethan — we really appreciate your time and energy! 👏✨

We had a fantastic opportunity to be on air with Boomerang Radio this week to talk about something that truly matters — the urgent need for more foster carers. 🎙️📢

There are approximately 81,770 children in the care system in England, with roughly 56,000–57,000 of them living in fostering arrangements. Sadly, there simply aren’t enough foster carers to meet this growing demand. That’s why opportunities like this to raise awareness are so important.
