We’re incredibly proud to share that Uchu Meade has successfully completed the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Consultant Pharmacist Credentialing process — becoming the first Consultant Pharmacist credentialed in this way within London North West Healthcare NHS Trust!

This achievement reflects years of commitment, leadership, and collaboration. Uchu’s journey included gaining RPS post approval, building the right team structure, and submitting a comprehensive portfolio — all culminating in a successful first-attempt pass with outstanding feedback.

"Since I began my journey at St Mark's, I have been overwhelmed by the support and kindness of the staff that work there. No matter when I attend St Mark's, whether that be for an outpatient appointment or a long term stay, I am always made to feel relaxed and I feel like nothing is too much trouble for the staff that work there.

My journey would not have been the same without the support and resilience of Dr Gabe. Despite there being some challenging times in my illness, he has always provided me with options and talked these through in a calm and thorough manner, allowing me to feel safe in his hands. I really am grateful for all of his work that he has done/continues to do!

I am also grateful for the work that Mr Warusavitarne has done over the years too. He took on the challenge of operating on me despite having extensive adhesions.

Both of these men are trying to provide me with a better quality of life despite my medical needs. I feel lucky to have these consultants supporting me and my family throughout my ongoing journey!"

We’re incredibly proud of our clinical colleagues who had the opportunity to take part in the RSM Coloproctology Section meeting, expertly hosted by Mr Ian Jenkins and Professor of Surgery, Mr Eloy Espín.

It was a privilege for our colleagues to contribute to such a respected international event, featuring brilliant talks from leading voices in the field, including Consultant Surgeon Miss Elaine Burns, Professor Omar Faiz, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon Jay Warusavitarne and many more.

A huge congratulations to one of our research fellows, Mr Jason Rai,who was awarded the Travelling Fellowship Prize – an outstanding achievement and testament to his dedication and hard work. 🏆👏

As part of this opportunity, Jason Rai and another of our incredible research fellows, Mr Orestis Argyriou, also had the chance to observe with Professor Eloy Espin, gaining valuable insights and experience.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in making this event so impactful – thank you for welcoming and supporting our team.

We are truly honoured that St Mark's Hospital Foundation is the chosen charity for the Galway Association Golf Society (London) Captain’s Day 2025!

A huge congratulations to Daniel Perry on being named Captain for the year ahead! Daniel has chosen to support St Mark’s Hospital Foundation in honour of his mum’s battle with Crohn’s disease, and we couldn’t be more thankful to him and everyone at the Galway Association Golf Society for supporting our charity and specialist hospital.

Fundraising is a family affair!🥳

Back in May, Emily took on the Hackney Half in aid of St Mark’s, raising an absolutely staggering £3,400 in support of our charity and specialist hospital.

Emily was inspired to take part as her Dad, Jason, is the Chief Executive of St Mark’s Hospital Foundation. An avid and active fundraiser himself, Jason has taken on a host of physical challenges for St Mark’s including the Royal Parks Half.

Cheered on by her family, and her Goldendoodle Lola, Emily completed the Hackney Half in 2 hours 3 minutes, placing her in the top 41% of all female finishers!

𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑯𝒂𝒅 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑼𝒍𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒔? 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒑 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆!

This is your chance to get involved in an important research project led by Mr Orestis Argyriou, a colorectal surgical trainee and PhD fellow at St Mark’s Hospital and Imperial College London. Under the supervision of Consultant Surgeon Mr Kapil Sahnan and Professor Ailsa Hart, this study aims to better understand how ulcerative colitis (UC) surgery impacts patients' working lives and professional quality of life.

Early findings from a recent systematic review highlight a significant gap in knowledge around work-related outcomes after UC surgery. With ethics approval now in place, the next step is to speak directly to patients through one-to-one interviews.

Orestis is looking to interview individuals who have undergone any surgery for UC—such as colectomy with ileostomy, pouch surgery, ileorectal anastomosis, or K**k pouch. He is particularly interested in hearing from people across a wide range of professions, to understand how different jobs may be affected by different types of surgery.

Interviews will last approximately 30–60 minutes.
