This week, residents at Willowcroft Care Home in Sutton-in-Ashfield got their creative hats on as they made their own felt bears, each one finished with a scarf and a personalised birth certificate. Everyone took time choosing colours and adding their own touches, making each bear truly unique.

Activities like this are a lovely way to encourage creativity, fine motor skills and conversation, with residents sharing ideas and enjoying a relaxed, sociable afternoon together — and the finished bears were something to be very proud of. 💜

Residents at Blackwell Care Home enjoyed a cupcake making and decorating session led by Jay, the home’s activities coordinator. The home was full of conversation and concentration as everyone got involved, from mixing and icing to adding the final decorative touches.

Recently, residents and staff at Bramble Lodge were delighted by a very special visit from a pony as part of a pet therapy session. Residents absolutely loved spending time with the pony, who even made gentle visits into residents’ bedrooms, creating some truly lovely one-to-one moments and plenty of smiles throughout the home.🐴

Pet therapy can offer many benefits for people living with dementia. Interaction with animals can help reduce anxiety, lift mood and encourage communication, even for those who may find it difficult to express themselves verbally. Familiar, calming experiences like this can spark memories, provide comfort and support emotional wellbeing, helping residents feel more relaxed, connected and engaged in the moment. 💜
