I’m so excited to announce I’ve ironed out the details for our first Posture Squad Summer Social on 9th June 2024!

It’ll be a full day of posture fun at The Grand Pavilion Matlock Bath with a walk, lunch included, 2 x posture classes AND a Q&A with me.

📸 How a photo can tell a thousand words. 📸 I’ve been doing my job long enough now that I am subconsciously assessing posture ALL THE TIME. I promise I don’t do it deliberately but someone will run past me and I’ll think ‘Foot dysfunction. She’ll have knee pain. Ouch!’ or someone will be bemoaning their bad back in a cafe and I’ll think ‘It’s his shoulders causing his back pain.’ It’s almost a bit like what I imagine it to be like as a psychic who gets unprompted spirit messages all the time. I’m not ASKING to have my head full of posture everytime I see someone, it just is. Anyway, when I see photos of myself, the same thing happens, I get little visual clues 🕵️‍♀️ of things I need to work on to feel better. I love/hate this photo here as it so nicely shows you my wonky ribcage. You can see how my bra, shoulder blades and chest are sitting quite differently on the floor from side to side. My shoulders can’t slide back and down behind me like they should be able to. This position, Modified Floor Block, is highlighting a dysfunction (something that can’t move properly) that ordinarily you probably wouldn’t see when just walking around and it’s hidden within the rest of you. I’m thinking of doing a little series on Instagram where, if you send photos to me of you ‘doing something’ (like a Squat or yoga pose), I will share them and comment and what movement problems I observe within your photo … what do you think?? In a WEEK we start the next round of The Posture Revolution and I can’t wait! 🚀 🎉 The Posture Revolution is my 3 month deep dive coaching programme, designed for people who are ready to roll up their sleeves, change some habits and commit to learning a whole new way of thinking about movement. If you are sick of struggling with pain on the regular, worried about what the future will hold, annoyed at how symptom focused most remedies and modalities seem to be, depressed to see your enjoyment of your hobbies slip away from you …. BUT, crucially, hopeful that change is possible, then this is for you. Let me take you by the hand and show you what the ‘experts’ were missing before. It’s normally very simple and very obvious, they just weren’t seeing things through the right lens and they led you astray for x amount of years. I want to help you, I am absolutely confident I CAN help you but, I will need you to want to get yourself better. That is the main requisite for this to work. 📢 Posture Ellie Announcement! 📢 - Did you know that the wonderful Ben has started working with me on Mondays? Obviously I am biased and think he’s wonderful as, shock/surprise, he’s my fiancé lol. But he is wonderful. He’s started helping me put together some Reels and is going to help me with some of the business/data/stuff I don’t have the time or wherewithal to do behind the scenes. We are also planning on running posture/walking/foraging/nature retreats together in the hopefully so not distant future! I would love to be able to work Ben on a more full time basis, so let’s see …🤞He’s the yin to my yang 🌚🌝 and I think we’d run an effective, fun and heart-led business together. Maybe I’m romanticising this but I think the idea of working together is lovely? Am I deluded? Also, did you know that Ben is a qualified posture therapist too? This quote really sums up my changing attitude towards my business over the last year or so. Last year I had felt out of alignment with my work for a while. I didn’t feel like I was offering the long term solution I wanted for my clients and people were wedded to having 1-2-1 Appointments with me. With my previous 1-2-1 model of working, I felt that it didn’t give my clients the opportunity to really have to think on their own and therefore fly on their own. They still depended on me to ‘figure it out’ and come up with solutions for them. My mission is to teach people how much power and knowledge they have inside themselves and to offer an appropriate framework, appropriate resources and appropriate support to unleash this power. My business nowadays gives me the warm and fuzzies in a way it never did before - I really feel like I now have created services that offer support, but push from the get-go for independence. The results are often astounding … because my clients are now learning to heal themselves, they are not being ‘healed’ by someone trying a bit too hard to prove herself! Postural Alignment Therapy (The Egoscue Method) in Worcestershire

Postural Alignment Therapy relieves chronic musculoskeletal pain by bringing wonky bodies back into correct musculoskeletal alignment.

Humans have a set, specific functional design (see below) - load joints should be parallel and symmetrical from the horizontal and vertical view. Rarely nowadays do people live the lives they are designed for (moving gently all day, everyday in a wide variety of ways) and therefore, our musculoskeletal system does not receive the movement it needs to maintain our muscles at the correct length and strength. Muscles at the correct length and strength hold our joints in the correct place.

Joints start to slip out of place when muscles lose their strength/become too tight and this leads to unnatural, uneven wear and tear into our bones, tendons, cartilage, joints etc. This causes pain.

It is NOT normal to feel pain and it shouldn’t be an accepted part of aging. People should not push through pain but equally they should not stop moving all together, they simply need to move their body in a different way.
