My business is 4 years old today 🥳

4 years ago, I took a leap of faith, and while being confined to my house because of covid, I took the opportunity to put the wheels in motion for my new adventure.

I'm still loving every minute of it. Is it hard work being your own boss and being the only one in charge of bookings, appointments, answering calls, email and SMS messages, stock control, bookkeeping, tax returns, and social media? Absolutely 💯
..but is it worth it? Absolutely 💯

I've met so many wonderful people along the way, and the fact that I continue to meet new people on a weekly basis makes me happy and so proud.

Thank you to my patients and to anyone who has not booked with me for themselves but liked a post, shared my page, or recommended me to their friends and family. It does not go unnoticed, and it's appreciated more than you'll know 🫶

Personally, I have a very busy August and this is my availability throughout the month for wax removal.

If you are thinking of getting your ears cleared before your holidays, or before any appointments involving hearing assessments on hearing aids, please get in touch as soon as you can to book in. I may be able to add additional slots around the month.

I'm on holiday from 1st-8th August and all calls and messages will be diverted during this week, while I reset.

Hello everyone

Just a quick update from me while I'm between appointments today.

I am away half term week - so I'm closed from May 25th and reopen 2nd June. The first couple of weeks of June are busy as someone is celebrating a BIG birthday 🎂 🥳

I have some availability next weekend before I close. If you need an appointment soon, in the next few weeks, please message me to get booked in to avoid disappointment.

Just a little update from me regarding prices.

I have always tried to be the most reasonably priced aural care provider, and my prices have remained the same since the end of my introductory period in 2021. The costs of running my business, however, have been increasing steadily since this time.

I have made the decision therefore to increase my prices, applicable to new bookings made from 1st April 2025. The biggest increase is seen for my examination only appointments, as I still block out an hour of my time, even if there is no wax to remove.

While I appreciate this may be disappointing news, especially with the rising cost of living, I do hope you understand. Even with the slight increase in price, my prices for wax removal are still competitive as this is all delivered in the comfort of your own home.

An interesting read following lots of scaremongering in recent years from companies and local businesses, alike.

If you have concerns about hearing loss and dementia, this may be of interest to you.

Joint Statement - Adult-Onset Hearing Loss and Dementia

The BAA, BSA and BSHAA have joined forces to highlight misleading reports by some health professionals and the media that hearing loss causes dementia, and treating hearing loss will reduce our individual risk of dementia.

In a position statement, led by Prof Kevin Munro, audiology professionals have come together to highlight that misinformation is promoting a sense of alarm and stigma around hearing loss, and may discourage people experiencing hearing difficulties from seeking help.

They also argue the focus on what causes the co-occurrence of hearing loss and dementia could inadvertently distract from much needed research on how to assess and help people who live with both conditions.

This is what I found in the ear of my last appointment, a lady who was complaining of feedback from her hearing aids and recommended ear wax removal by her hearing aid provider as ear wax was the probable cause.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, this lady did not have a face to fave appointment when she was issued her new hearing aids, nor did she previously have a face to face appointment when she lost the dome (pictured above) from her hearing aid and was issued another for the end.

If you do lose a dome from the end of the hearing aid, it is quite likely stuck in your ear canal. The domes are usually clicked into place and are unlikely to just fall off onto the floor, but more likely to get wedged into a tight ear canal.

* Please have your ear checked as soon as you lose a dome from your hearing aid*. Please insist with your hearing aid provider that they check your ears before issuing new domes.

Foreign bodies in the ear canal not only affect hearing and interfere with hearing aid performance, they can cause infection in the ears.

Good Morning

I've had so many requests coming through these last few days and I am ever so grateful, but this does mean I am now fully booked next week.

I am now taking bookings for the first week of August, the week beginning 5th - as if we are two quarters of the way through the year almost ... Again!

A reminder to say I will be on on leave from the 15th August until 3rd September. Please, please don't leave requests to the last minute as I would hate to let anyone down. I MAY be able to offer some appointments on the 19th August, in between holidays, but I cannot promise this.
