What is resistant starch? 🤔

It’s a type of carbohydrate that “resists” digestion in the small intestine, meaning your body doesn’t absorb it like normal starch. Instead, it travels to the gut where it feeds the good bacteria 🦠✨

Why people on Slimming World love it 👇

✅ Helps keep you fuller for longer
✅ May help reduce cravings/snacking

✅ Can help with blood sugar balance
✅ Lower calorie impact than regular starches

Foods high in resistant starch:

🥔 Cooked & cooled potatoes
🍚 Cooked & cooled rice
🍝 Pasta salad
🍌 Slightly green bananas

When some starchy foods are cooked then cooled, part of the starch changes into “resistant starch.” Reheating keeps some of the benefit too!

💡 MORE FOOD OPTIMISING TOP TIPS 💡

✨ Keep a bowl of Speed fruit visible on the kitchen counter, we’re far more likely to grab what we can see!

🥔 Batch cook jacket potatoes and keep them in the fridge for quick lunches and speedy dinners.

🍝 Bulk out pasta dishes with mushrooms, courgettes, peppers or spinach to make portions bigger for fewer calories.

🥤 Drinking through a straw can sometimes make fizzy drinks disappear quicker, sip slowly and enjoy them more!

🍽️ Serve meals plated up in the kitchen instead of family-style on the table to avoid picking at extras.

🍉 Watermelon is over 90% water, ideal for sweet cravings in warmer weather ☀️

🍫 If you fancy treats in the evening, portion them out first instead of taking the whole packet to the sofa!

🥔 Leaving potato skins on adds extra fibre and helps keep you fuller for longer.

💡 SUPER SIMPLE SWAP: Mix half rice and half cauliflower rice, bigger portions, extra Speed and hardly noticeable in curries or stir fries 🙌

Some members are managing conditions such as diabetes, ME, thyroid issues, and other life-impacting health challenges. Others have chosen to use medication to help quiet the “food noise,” support healthier choices, and build a more positive relationship with food.

Whatever the reason, every journey is personal and every member deserves support, compassion, and respect. That’s exactly what I’ve proudly given through every weight-loss trend, headline, and approach over the past 20 years 🤗
