The face of somebody who’s no longer in the grip of type 2 diabetes 🙌

A year ago, Andy was told in no uncertain terms by the NHS that he must start taking medication to control his HbA1C levels. Instead of going down the prescription route, he chose the “more running about and healthier option” treatment plan.

With consistency, a love of mixed beans and oily fish 🐟, and the support of Gwen Fennell and the amazing crew at FEN Fitness, Andy has turned things around. He has consistently attended two Group Training a week and he loves it - always full of life with a smile on his face 👌
His latest reports show he’s back below the line — and looking pretty good in all other aspects of health too 💪

“The face of somebody who’s no longer in the grip of type 2 diabetes. After being told by the NHS a year ago that I must ( in a very instructive manner) start taking drugs to control my flirting with the arbitrary HbA1C level that determines “ suffering from” type 2, I decided to go along the more running about and less pork pie treatment route instead. With the help and guidance of Gwen Fennell and all the lovely folks at FEN Fitness along with a certain penchant for mixed beans and oily fish I’m happy to say latest reports show I’m back below the line and to be fair looking pretty good on all other aspects of bodily fluids. In the words of the great Zammo - Don’t do drugs , it’s actually a lot more fun down at Fen 😊”

Huge congratulations to our team on today’s races! 🎉

From the half marathon to the 10km, we saw some incredible performances — with several athletes achieving personal bests and others racing strongly in just their second and first ever event. 👏

Half Marathon:
Matt Goss - 1:41 p.b of 7mins
Nick Bates - 1:45 p.b of 30mins
Mark Collins - 1:49
Nick Turner - 1:50 p.b of 7mins
Russ Critchlow - 2:01:50 p.b of 11mins

Gwen - 48mins with a 2-3min puke stop 🤮Massive thank you to Rich for staying with me, even whilst getting sick 4times.

It’s inspiring to see how consistent training, structured sessions, and resilience in the build-up translate into results on the course. Whether it was shaving minutes off a PB, pacing smartly over 21.1km, or simply growing in confidence with each race, today showed what can happen when you put in the work.

For some, this was about proving to themselves what’s possible. For others, it’s a stepping stone toward bigger goals ahead. Either way, progress is progress — and I couldn’t be prouder of the effort, discipline, and determination you’ve all shown. 💪

Here’s to celebrating the wins, learning from the challenges, and building towards even greater performances in the future. 🔥Well done team - super proud of you all 💕👌
