Palermo is loud, beautiful, chaotic, and completely unforgettable. It’s a city where crumbling grandeur meets the best street food in Italy.

Don’t miss:
• Palermo Cathedral for serious history and rooftop views
• Teatro Massimo, even if it’s just to admire it from outside
• Ballarò and Vucciria markets for arancini, cannoli, and pure atmosphere
• Monreale Cathedral, a short trip out but absolutely worth it
• Wandering with no plan, Palermo rewards curiosity

Good to know:
Be street-smart. Beggars are everywhere, especially around tourist hotspots and cafés. Keep bags zipped, phones secure, and don’t feel pressured to engage. A polite no and walking on is enough.

Palermo isn’t polished, but that’s the magic. If you like real places with soul, you’ll love it.

Just a little ID card I put together for Forrest for travelling, airports and those moments when he decides running is far more exciting than walking calmly beside me. He has his own tiny “tattoo” now too just like mummy and daddy’s one, so he can keep his details on him wherever we go. 🌻💚

If you have an ASD child who loves to sprint the second you loosen your grip, something like this can give a bit of peace of mind.

In reality he will never actually get lost, because my bodyguard instincts are basically Kevin Costner in “The Bodyguard” protecting Whitney Houston. But still, being prepared never hurts.

And the bonus, these cards get us through airport security in about ten minutes which is genuinely my favourite part of travelling. ✈️💛
