Taking a weight loss medication?

If you are, you plan to take them long term, and your appetite is very reduced (likely), please consider that you still need to get your body’s needs of macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) every day in order for you not to be at risk of nutrient deficiencies in the future.

If you don’t look after your body where are you going to live? This is a brilliantly thought provoking thought from who together with and I we are working hard to help and support people taking weight loss medication, to ensure that they continue to support their health and nutrition status and not be at risk of deficiencies that leave them exhausted, unhappy (even with weight loss), and with digestive complaints that disrupt their day to day life.

I was lucky enough to learn all about breathing and the power of doing it properly from Oli Blomfield of Onwards Breath today.

Oli is a trained Oxygen Advantage breath work practitioner and having always suggested to clients that they spend time investing in mindfulness and breath work practices I thought it about time I do the same!

I learnt so much from Oli, how we should be drawing air into our nostrils and the direction of that air as we breath it in, think towards the back of the throat rather than up to the top of our nostrils, was fascinating. Just how big our lungs are and how important it is that we fill them fully with each breath, but so much more as well.

I have some simple exercises to practice that I am going to commit to with the long term aim of managing a nose breathing only slow run - it will take time and commitment but I plan to get there eventually!

All the work we do with our clients at Integral Wellness Nutrition & Health Clinic is about whole body health and not just about the food that we eat, breathing well is a big part of our overall health and is really important particularly for nervous system regulation.

Fibre - critical for blood sugar management!

If you are pre diabetic fibre is as important as protein for lowering and balancing blood sugars.

Fibre plays a critical role in gut health and your gut health has a critical role to play in how well you manage blood sugars!

30g/day for good gut health and to support blood sugar management, most of us get half of that or less!

You should be having at least one easy to pass bowel movement every day 💩 if you aren’t, ask yourself if you are eating enough fibre?

Start to pay attention to what you are eating. Do vegetables take up half of your plate for at least 2 out of 3 meals a day? If not it’s likely you aren’t getting anywhere near the recommended amount.
