We are inviting patients, carers, families and staff to help shape our new Patient Experience and Engagement Strategy.

The strategy is about making sure people’s voices are heard and listened to. It will focus on involving patients and those close to them in decisions about their care, and on using real experiences to improve services across the Trust.

By listening more closely to what matters to our communities, we aim to design and review services in ways that better meet people’s needs. This work supports the NHS 10 Year Health Plan, which highlights the importance of patient feedback and engagement in delivering high‑quality care.

We are also asking our staff to share their views. Many colleagues both deliver care and use NHS services themselves, and their insight is vital to improving how care is provided. At the heart of the new strategy is a commitment to kindness, inclusion and treating everyone with respect, even at challenging times.

We will be gathering feedback from patients and staff, including through a short survey available here:

What people tell us will directly shape the strategy and help us continue improving care for our local communities.

Please support us by only attending our emergency departments for serious or life-threatening emergencies. Please consider other health services, such as your GP, pharmacies or NHS 111. This helps ensure that our hospitals can care for those who need them most.

Help us help you over the bank holiday weekend by making the right choice for your care.

Please support us by only attending our emergency departments for serious or life-threatening emergencies. Please consider other health services, such as your GP, pharmacies or NHS 111. This helps ensure that our hospitals can care for those who need them most.

30/04/2026

With the bank holiday approaching, make sure you order your repeat prescription in good time to avoid any delays in getting your medicines.

GP practices and pharmacies may have different opening hours, so it’s best to plan ahead and not leave it until the last minute.

Find out how to order your repeat prescription here, including via the NHS App: https://nhs.uk/nhs-services/prescriptions/how-to-order-a-repeat-prescription/

ASK Campaign: Supporting the Armed Forces community at the point of care

We’re proud to support the national rollout of the ASK Campaign across NHS trusts in England, led by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

The campaign encourages NHS teams to ask patients a simple question:

“Have you, or an immediate family member, ever served in the UK Armed Forces?”

This question helps the NHS recognise members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, and their families, so they can receive the understanding, care, and support they may be entitled to.

Military service can affect health in different ways, both physical and mental. By asking this question and recording it in a patient’s health record, NHS teams can:

Better understand a patient’s background and experiences
Offer more personalised care
Connect patients and families with specialist support services where appropriate

Answering the question is always voluntary, and information is handled sensitively and confidentially.

Watch this short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeA-ReOYUew&t=1sbelow which explains why this question is important and how it helps the NHS provide better care for members of the Armed Forces community and their families.
