Today marks the start of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

This is the month dedicated to raising awareness of childhood cancer and to recognise the devastation it wreaks in families' lives. Cancer, unfortunately, still kills more young people in the UK than any other disease and facing this fact when being given a diagnosis is a terrifying prospect.

This month we celebrate the incredible children who face every treatment, hospital visit and side effect with a superhuman strength and let them know that they are never alone ❤️

Here are a few ways you can help raise awareness of childhood cancer this month and support CWCF in making the lives of children with cancer feel normal again:

GO GOLD: Show your support by wearing something gold this month. It could be a gold ribbon pin, accessory or outfit… anything goes! Don’t forget to share your photos online and use 🎗️

SPREAD AWARENESS: Follow us and share our posts on social media and explain why you are supporting CWCF this September. Encourage your friends and followers to join you in making a difference!

FUNDRAISE: Host a fundraising event for CWCF. It could be a coffee morning with friends and family, or maybe you want to set yourself a challenge and do a sponsored run! No matter the event, pop into the office or call 01323 488561 for more information about organising a fundraising event for us.

VOLUNTEER: If you have a spare few hours during the week or the weekends why not donate some of your time to helping a charity and volunteer at events. We're always keen to have people help out at our events! Get in touch today and become a CWCF volunteer.

Great news for Bexhill. Well done Bexhill Lions club 👏👏👏

A new defibrillator has been installed outside Bentleys Steakhouse on Western Road – a vital addition to our town’s emergency resources.

This life-saving equipment was kindly donated by local resident Maureen Lopez, in loving memory of her husband, Eugenio Lopez – a much-loved family man and respected Bexhill businessman for over 25 years. Many will remember Maureen and Eugenio from their years running Farmhouse Kitchen Bakery on Western Road.

The defibrillator was installed with the generous support of Bentleys’ owner, Memish Hussain, and also includes a life-saving bleed control kit inside the cabinet.

Bexhill Lions will be taking on guardianship of the unit to ensure it remains ready and maintained for emergencies.

💛 Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this important resource to the community. A true example of local people supporting one another.

🚗From 2026, CPR and AEDs will hit the driving theory test!🚗

The DVSA will be adding CPR and AED questions to the UK theory test for cars and motorcycles, meaning millions of learner drivers will gain life-saving skills before they even hit the road.
