Join me at my next yoga retreat held in Dalyan, Turkey from 20-27 June. Known for its calm atmosphere, river landscapes, gorgeous beach, ancient sites and slower pace of life. It’s the kind of place where you can truly switch off and reconnect. If you’ve been craving some space, sunshine, and deeper practice, this retreat is a really special opportunity.

Truth or Satya creates deeper connection but it can feel a little exposing at first to be fully honest.

This week if something bothers you, acknowledge it (even just to yourself), if you’re tired, say so instead of pushing through automatically, If you notice you’ve been off with someone own it rather than brushing it aside and on the yoga mat drop the idea of how it should look and work with what is showing up.

Truth will set you free.

This month my online & in-person classes theme around the Yamas or ethical yogic guidelines. We begin with Ahimsa, which translates as non-harming. This might sound simple, but it’s deeply powerful. Ahimsa invites us to notice where we create unnecessary tension, force, or criticism especially toward ourselves. Simple ideas that align with this are: speaking kindly to yourself, pausing before reacting, choosing compassion over judgment. How will you include Ahimsa in your life?

The final Klesha, Abhiniveƛa, is the fear of loss or fear of the unknown. It’s the instinct that tightens when things feel unstable. In times like these, it can feel amplified. Yoga doesn’t promise to remove uncertainty but it does teach us how to meet it with steadiness through breath, awareness and remembering that even when the world shifts, we can build inner stability. If this resonates with you consider joining my online membership here: https://lisapowellyoga.impact.me/practice

This week I'm exploring the obstacle of DveáčŁa or aversion. If attachment is grasping for what we want, aversion is pushing away what we don’t. We do this by:
Avoiding discomfort, numbing out, over-scrolling or shutting down conversations.
It’s human - especially when the world feels uncertain. But what we resist grows louder. Yoga teaches us to stay, to breathe and to feel without being overwhelmed. A steady mind isn’t one that avoids discomfort. It’s one that can sit with it without collapsing.

This week we’re looking at attachment. Attachment sounds harmless. We all have preferences but suffering tends to grow when we insist that life must look a certain way in order for us to feel okay.

The tighter the grip, the more tension we feel. There’s so much outside our control right now but what is within reach is how we respond.

Sometimes steadiness comes not from fixing the situation but from softening our grip on how we think it should be.

This month inside my online membership we’re exploring the Kleshas — five common mental obstacles described in yoga philosophy that can pull us away from clarity and calm. The first one is Avidyā — misunderstanding reality. This is when fear takes the wheel, headlines become worst-case scenarios in our minds and we forget to pause and ask: "What is actually true right now?". Clear seeing doesn’t mean ignoring the world it means not getting consumed by imagined futures.

Bhastrika is a dynamic breathwork practice that helps open the back, chest and shoulders while releasing stagnant air from the lungs. The strong, rhythmic inhales and exhales build heat, awaken circulation and gently clear mental fog.

A powerful way to warm up the body and energise the mind before movement, meditation or the day ahead.

Breathe fully. Move intentionally. Feel the shift.

The beauty of yoga is that it gives us tools to shift our mental state. A grounding breath, mindful movement or simple meditation can bring a scattered mind back to focus, a dull mind back to alertness and an agitated mind back to calm.
Try this quick reset:
Place both feet on the floor, spine tall
Inhale for a count of 4, filling the lungs
Hold for 4
Exhale for a count of 8, letting tension release
Repeat 5–10 rounds
